Overview

About the hotel: This recently renovated hotel offers modern rooms with balconies and easy access to downtown offices, shopping, restaurants, the Mosaic Stadium, the Regina General Hospital and even the airport.

The hotel has 235 smoke-free rooms and 15 floors with elevator access.

All rooms include free Wi-Fi, free wired Internet, free local calls, a 42" flat screen HDTV with pay-per-view movies, a coffeemaker, a mini-fridge, a work desk, an ergonomic chair, iPod docks, an iron and ironing board, a safe, a hair dryer, bathrobes, a balcony and air conditioning.

Some rooms include a sofabed, a separate bedroom, a 2-person hot tub, and city views. Accessible rooms are available.

Rooms are furnished with 1 or 2 queen beds or 1 king bed.

Outdoor and underground parking is available on site for $12 per night. Clearance is 6' for underground lot.

Pets are welcome (2) for $35 per stay, per room.

Restaurants on site:

Wild Sage Kitchen and Bar serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offers live entertainment on Thursdays and Fridays.

Connections Café serves Starbucks coffee and snacks.

Hotel amenities include a 24-hour business centre, a 24-hour fitness centre, a convenience store, an ATM, a gift shop, dry cleaning, luggage storage, safe deposit boxes, newspapers and meeting rooms.

What’s nearby? Guests can walk to Victoria Park in 5 minutes. Cornwall Centre (shopping mall) is 8 minutes away on foot. The Mosaic Stadium (home of the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders) is a 6-minute drive, or a 25-minute walk. The Regina General Hospital is a 10-minute walk or 3-minute drive away. The Saskatchewan Science Centre (museum and IMAX theatre) and Conexus Arts Centre (performing arts venue) are both 6 minutes away by car.

Getting around: Regina International Airport (YQR) is a 9-minute drive, without heavy traffic. (All travel times: Google Maps).

The Good

This hotel is well located in Regina's downtown and is appreciated by its guests for its newly renovated public spaces and rooms. Many of its guests consider it to be well managed and very clean with competitive rates for downtown.

Although its an older building, the space has been tastefully renovated with quality furnishings and snazzy decor and it serves very well as a business hotel (with a modern fitness centre but no indoor pool for the kids), and offers attractive discounts for medical stays.

Guests typically found the rooms large with very comfy beds, and enjoyed having a balcony and views of the city from the higher floors. Some were impressed to have HD channels on their flat screen TVs, which they said were not available at other downtown hotels.

Many enjoyed meals and buffets on site at the restaurant and several reviewers were impressed to find a Starbucks cafe off the lobby.

The location was appreciated for being an easy walk to restaurants and pubs, downtown exhibitions, offices, and the hospital.

Many felt welcomed upon arrival, with the desk staff offering a warm chocolate chip cookie or bottled water, and this typically put things off to a good start with the staff.

The Bad

Guests were well pleased with their stays overall and many felt positively about the hotel and its services, but there was a little negative feedback found in recent reviews online.

A few reviewers felt the room price was a little high and complained about the parking surcharge.

Some found small bathrooms (which may be due to the building being older).

Occasionally guests complained about about the food, service or prices at the restaurant, although it seems that more people were favourably impressed with it.

Occasionally guests felt the hotel was lacking in recreation facilities, such as an indoor pool.
