The Good
The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with much praise going to the hotel's staff, rooms and breakfast.
The hotel's staff were the source of numerous compliments by reviewers, who found them friendly, accommodating, attentive and knowledgeable. One patron noted, "Gracious hosts...they do spend time with guests and they are very informative on what to see/do in/around Moose Jaw. An added plus is a visit each morning by the mother of Lois...a fascinating lady with a wonderful philosophy on life...spend time with her and you will leave with a refreshed outlook on life.
Many lodgers were impressed with the hotel's accommodations. They described their rooms as modern, beautifully decorated, clean, spacious, well equipped and quiet, with comfortable beds. A few guests had complaints about their rooms, however (see below).
Several travellers enjoyed the hotel's free breakfast, describing it as tasty, first rate, delicious and unique. One guest remarked, "John and Lois provided us with generous breakfasts, each beginning with fruit salad (7 or 8 types of fruit) in an antique teacup. The first morning's offering was bacon, eggs, toast and the most scrumptious hand-cut, pan-fried, seasoned potatoes I have ever had. The second was fluffy pancakes, eggs and sausage, all accompanied by tea, coffee and orange juice". A couple reviewers found the breakfast choices to be limited, however.
The Bad
While the majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a few complaints about the rooms.
Although many lodgers were impressed with their beautiful and spacious accommodations, a few reviewers had complaints about their rooms. They reported that the hotel and rooms in general were undergoing ongoing restoration, leading to some finishings and fixtures in need of upgrading. Noise transfer from the staircase, adjacent rooms and rooms overhead was also reported.
