Overview
Adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway and an easy walk to the city centre of Saint-Saveur, this budget hotel is geared towards short or long-term guests who desire a hotel near to the city's shops and eateries, with cost-saving kitchen amenities and freebies, plus convenient highway access.
This non-smoking hotel has 40 air-conditioned guest rooms and suites, each offering free Wi-Fi, free local calls, 27" cable TV, a kitchen (stove with oven, fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, cookware, dinnerware) and full bathrooms with hair dryer. Irons and ironing boards are available upon request. Standard rooms offer one or two queen beds, while suites with a king bed, dining area, a 2-person jacuzzi, a fireplace and sleeping accommodations for up to eight people are also available.
The hotel also offers free parking and a free continental breakfast. Pets are not allowed and the hotel is not wheelchair accessible. This hotel has three floors and no elevator. There is no on-site restaurant, but there are several local restaurants that will offer either a 10% or 15% discount to guests of the hotel. There is a Metro supermarket a minute's walk from the hotel where guests can purchase groceries. This hotel's front desk is open limited hours from 8 am to midnight.
Tim Hortons and Cafe de la Gare are a 4-minute walk from the hotel, while shopping can be found at Les Galeries des Monts about 3 minutes away on foot. The Good
Guests who liked this hotel were in the majority, judging from the reviews read for this editorial, and they seemed to feel the hotel provided decent value for the price and was well located.
The location of this hotel was likely the biggest draw. Guests described it has having lots to do in the area and within walking distance of attractions. One guest said it was close to all the shops and the water park.
The hotel's accommodations were found to be comfortable and acceptable for several lodgers. They described their rooms as clean, spacious and well equipped, with good Wi-Fi, great mountain views and comfortable beds. However, many guests had complaints about their rooms (see below).
Several reviewers enjoyed the hotel's location. They found it to be within walking distance to shopping, restaurants and skiing, as well as close to the highway.
The hotel's value was also praised by some guests, who described the rates as reasonable, although there was some balance of opinion in this regard from other guests (see below).
The Bad
Guests who did not like this hotel complained about several aspects of their stay which included the rooms, the staff, the breakfast and the value.
Guest comments were somewhat mixed about the staff. There were some that were pleased with the level of customer service they received, and characterized the staff as friendly, helpful and bilingual but there were several guests who experienced rude, unaccommodating and outspoken staff also.
Guests who were displeased reported issues with cleanliness, as well as musty smells, old TVs and dated decor. Some guests also reported broken and non-working amenities including: blinds, phones, door lock
Noise transfer was mentioned by some guests, who complained of noisy heating/AC units, bathroom fans and paper thin walls that allowed guests to hear their neighbours.
Some guests said that they were given different rooms than the rooms they had booked.
Several guests were also displeased about the free breakfast, finding it unappealing and too basic.
Some guests, who were not satisfied, felt the hotel was overpriced based on the amenities and the kind of experience it provided to its guests.
