The Good
The majority of reviews read for this report were favourable toward the hotel which obtained good scores overall. The hotel was considered to provide a clean and comfortable room at an affordable price in an excellent location.
Most of the positive comments were directed towards the hotel location, which one reviewer described as “the crossroads to everything". The highlight for many guests stemmed from being attached to an indoor mall that provided nearby access to groceries, a drugstore, a food court for a $5 breakfast, shopping and restaurants. Another very important aspect was that the hotel was connected indoors to the major transit hub, Berri-UQAM Metro station which connects travellers to much of Montreal, the train station and the airport. Guests said they could travel in the winter without donning winter clothing to access attractions.
Some guest reviewers also commented on beautiful park and skyline views from their rooms, particularly on the higher floors. Guests also found the rooms to be clean with comfortable beds, although somewhat dated.
Overall, guests were pleased with the staff at this hotel, and found them friendly and conversant in English.
Some guests found the indoor pool and free Wi-Fi to add value to their stay and the general consensus of opinion was weighted in favour of good value at this hotel for the room price, in the reviews read recently for this editorial.
The Bad
The major beef about this hotel had to do with the tired state it was in overall. Several guests pointed this out in the reviews that were read for this report. Some guests focused on the bathrooms and said they were aging, one guest said the finishes were dated and another pointed out stained walls, peeling wallpaper and cracked tiles in the bathroom. A couple of guests added that the furniture was old, TVs were not HD and there was no mini-fridge in the rooms.
