Overview
The Hilton Montreal Bonaventure is located on de la Gauchetière Street, corner of Mansfield Street, in downtown Montreal. The hotel specializes in hosting meetings, exhibitions and conventions, but is also popular with families.

This hotel is also well-known for its rooftop area, which has an outdoor pool that is heated in the winter, 2.5 acres of landscaped gardens, and a poolside bar. The hotel has one main restaurant which overlooks the hotel's garden with a waterfall and a pond, as well as a bistro restaurant and the poolside bar, which serves lighter fare and is open only in the summer. Free wireless Internet is provided throughout the common areas and in all rooms. Parking is available in an underground lot for $20/day.

There are 395 guest rooms and suites, with several different configurations. All rooms feature mahogany furniture, 32-inch flat-screen TVs, in-room safes, work area, alarm clocks with MP3 connection, hair dryers, irons and ironing boards. There are both 1 and 2-level suites, offering views of the city, hotel garden, or pool. In addition, there are executive suites available for guests who prefer more amenities and space, and access to the hotel's Executive Club Lounge. For guests with limited mobility or requiring extra assistance, the hotel has accessible rooms, with features such as hearing-impaired equipment, safety bars, and raised toilets and sinks.

The hotel is connected to Montreal's 'Underground City', linking guests to 33km of underground city boutiques and restaurants, the metro system, the train station, the convention centre, as well as the Bell Centre, home of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team and many music concerts. It is about a 20-minute walk to Old Montreal and Chinatown, and a 10-minute walk to the nightlife around Crescent Street and shopping on St. Catherine Street.

The hotel is across the street from the train station (with indoor access), a 10-minute metro ride from the bus station at Berri-UQAM, and about 20km from the airport. There is a stop for the 747 airport shuttle bus 1 street away.

The Good
Overall, the hotel was highly praised, in the reviews used for this analysis, for its pool and outdoor area, staff service, and location.

Many guests enjoyed the outdoor rooftop pool, although advised that it gets quite full in the summer. Guests who had stayed at the hotel in the winter enjoyed the novelty of swimming in an outdoor heated pool while snow fell around them. One reviewer wrote that, "there were piles of snow right at the pool's edge. We actually had a snowball fight in the pool in winter in Montreal". In addition to the pool, guests also enjoyed the hotel's gardens and courtyards.

There were many comments that the service provided by hotel staff was professional and courteous. One reviewer commented that they were the "friendliest staff we have come across in any hotel", and another that staff service "exceeds 5-star quality".

Many reviewers also found the hotel's downtown location to be central and convenient, especially its connection to the Underground City. The hotel's location received praise from many different types of travellers - those on business, guests in town for the culture and/or nightlife, and guests on family vacations.
