The Auberge YWCA / Hotel Y is located in the YWCA on René Lévesque Boulevard, on the corner of Crescent Street, in downtown Montreal. 

This property is unique in that it provides two choices of budget accommodation. Guests can stay in the Auberge (French for hostel) YWCA on the 6th floor, or the Hotel Y on the 7th floor. There is a café on the first floor of the hotel, and free wireless Internet in all its rooms and public areas. There is no on-site parking at the hotel, although there are a few lots in the immediate are.

The Auberge consists of 32 air conditioned rooms. Rooms in the Auberge come with sinks, but not private bathrooms. Common showers and bathrooms are located on the floor and are shared by all guests. All the rooms come with free wireless Internet access, basic cable TV and a clock radio. There is a common living area on the floor which has a fully equipped kitchen, free wireless Internet access, coin-operated laundry, iron and ironing board, and sitting area with television and computer room. Security boxes and other amenities are available upon request at the reception.

The hotel on the 7th floor consists of 30 air conditioned rooms, all of which have their own private bathroom. Rooms come with hair dryer, free wireless Internet access, 19’’ LCD television with basic cable, iron and ironing board, fridge, telephone, coffee maker and clock radio. Security boxes are available at reception upon request.

The hotel is 200m, about a 3-minute walk, from the Lucien L'Allier metro station, and about a 10-minute walk to the Guy-Concordia metro station. It is less than 1km from the train station at Bonaventure metro station and about 2.5km from the bus station at Berri-UQAM metro station. Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport is 20km away, about a 20-minute drive depending on traffic conditions. There is also a stop for the 747 airport shuttle bus one street over, on the corner of Réne Lévesque Boulevard and de la Montagne Street. 

The hotel is located on the corner of Crescent Street, one of Montreal`s most popular streets, which boasts numerous restaurants, bars, nightclubs and outdoor terraces. It is also 300m, or a 4-minute walk, to the Bell Centre (a sports and entertainment facility that is home to the Montreal Canadiens and hosts popular music concerts), and to Saint Catherine Street and the city's underground shopping network. Concordia University is less than 1km from the hotel, about a 10-minute walk, and McGill University is a little over 1km from the hotel, about a 15-minute walk (all distances and travel time estimates: Google Maps).

The Good
There were limited guest reviews online for this hotel, but among the reviews that were found, the hotel received many positive comments for its value for money, central location, cleanliness and friendly staff. 

Many guest reviewers felt the hotel served their needs for an affordable, clean and safe place to stay that would allow them to explore the city. One reviewer wrote of the hotel that, "if you want to be in the middle of it all in Montreal and not break the bank, this hotel is great". Another wrote, "if you don't need luxury, then stay here and save your money so that you can spend it enjoying the city!"

The staff received several positive comments for being polite, friendly and helpful, and many guests said the hotel was quiet. There were many comments that the rooms, bathrooms and common areas were all basic, but clean and well-maintained. 
The Bad
Overall, there were very few negative comments about this hotel. Most of the guest reviewers used in this analysis said that they had chosen the hotel because of its affordability so they were expecting a basic hotel. 

A few reviewers described the rooms as "very small" and one reviewer noted that there were some minor cleanliness and maintenance issues, such as a some ink stains on the comforter, and chipped spots on the sink but that the hotel was clean overall.

While many reviewers enjoyed the hotel's free wireless Internet access in all its rooms and public areas, a few said the connection was unprotected and unreliable.
