Overview

Located about a 3-minute walk from St. Andrew Metro Station and a 3-minute drive from Toronto's city centre, the Shangri-La Hotel Toronto is geared towards business or vacation travellers who prefer a centrally located hotel with meeting/banquet space, on-site dining and easy access to public transit.

Each of the hotel's air-conditioned guest rooms and suites offers free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a mini-fridge, a desk, an iPod dock, an iPad and a hair dryer. Rooms with a separate bedroom, a jetted tub, a dining room and a balcony are also available, as are wheelchair-accessible rooms. All rooms are non-smoking.

Hotel amenities include an indoor pool, a hot tub, a sauna, a steam room, a spa and wellness centre, fitness facilities, meeting/banquet facilities, a business centre, laundry services, a bar and on-site dining at Bosk, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Pets up to 50 lbs are permitted for $125 per room, per stay and valet-only parking is $48 per day.

The Toronto Eaton Centre is roughly a 12-minute walk away, while the Air Canada Centre can be found 4 minutes away by car. The Good

The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with much praise going to the hotel's location, rooms and staff.

The hotel's location was enjoyed by numerous lodgers. They found it close to shopping, restaurants, the Four Season's Centre, the financial district, public transit and the Eaton Centre.

Many reviewers praised their accommodations at the hotel. They described their rooms as modern, spacious, clean, quiet, luxurious and well equipped, with comfortable beds and large bathrooms.

Several guests were pleased with the level of customer service they received, characterizing the staff as friendly, helpful, attentive and accommodating. One patron remarked, "The hotel staff are really attentive, they know who you are which gives a feeling that you're in a small boutique hotel but with all the conveniences of a large hotel".

The Bad

While the majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a few complaints about the hotel's restaurant.

Although several guests were pleased with the quality of the hotel's food, a few lodgers had complaints about the restaurant. They reported small portions, expensive prices, slow service and were disappointed the hotel's breakfast ended at 10:30 am on Sunday instead of being an extended brunch buffet.
