The Good
Guests were pretty excited about this hotel and seemed to really be impressed with it.
more It was new, modern and guests found it impressive in cleanliness and decor.
Guests really liked the rooms. They were often found to be very clean and spacious, with large upscale bathrooms, soaking tubs and rain showers, floor-to-ceiling windows and great city and lake views (some from the bathroom).
The location was prime. It was connected to Union Station and made travel for sightseeing and the airport effortless and cheap. It was also an easy walk to the convention centre, entertainment venues, restaurants, the financial district, the waterfront and the city's signature attractions. Guests also like having Longo's supermarket and the LCBO handy for snacks and light meals.
The staff did a great job. They were mentioned often in the reviews and guests told of how the staff offered outstanding service.
A few guests enjoyed the varied breakfast buffet and the whiskey bar, but there were a number of negative comments regarding the food services.
Many reviewers were well pleased and planned to return.
The Bad
Some guests were disappointed with some aspects of the hotel.
more Recent room complaints posted were: small rooms, no mini-fridge for chilling food, no mini-bar for ready to eat snacks in the room, room was small, no black out blinds a problem for some who needed a dark room to sleep in, one guest found bedding was stained, opague window to the washroom does not provide a full sense of privacy for some guests travelling with friends or business associates, interconnecting doors to other rooms don't show if they are locked or unlocked (other guests breached the room), and in the winter a room was too cold.
Sometimes the hotel became busy with fans from the Raptors or Jays games and guests found the staff impersonal during these times and the elevators busy creating a long wait for the elevator. One guest explained that everyone had to swipe their key at the front of the elevator making the task of getting to one's floor arduous when the elevator was packed, and claimed that the line for the elevator continued outside of the hotel building.
The dining on site was deemed expensive, not kid-friendly and underwhelming by several guest reviewers. Some found the service slow and inept as well.
Valet parking was limited. Occasionally guests found there was no parking available as sports fans had descended upon the city and taken up all the spots (which is also shared with the public). Valet service often was maxed it seems with too few spots for such a big hotel according to guest reviewers.
Some complained of noise from: the elevator, an AC unit and the trains from Union Station.
Some guests found the indoor pool overcrowded, small and loud with children. One guest complained of it being cloudy with a dirty pool deck, although it was more often described as clean.
Other recent complaints were: restaurants in the area were mostly fast food, no kids club, inconsistent housekeeping service (not enough towels, didn't vacuum etc), better pool hours were needed and the hotel rooms were overpriced.
