Overview
Located a 1-minute drive from Hwy 61 (Thunder Bay Expy, a major artery through town) and a 5-minute drive to Thunder Bay International Airport (YQT), this hotel is popular with guests who need access to the airport or with those travelling by car who want to stay close to this major highway.

All of the 84 rooms at this hotel are non-smoking and have free Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge, a coffeemaker, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. Guests can choose between standard rooms (king, queen or double beds), or business plus rooms (including free wired Internet and a microwave) or more spacious suites (king or queen bed with a sofabed and a microwave). Pets are permitted for a cost of $15/day.

There is no on-site restaurant, but guests are offered a complimentary continental breakfast daily. There are a number of restaurants located within a 5- to 10-minute walk of the hotel. On-site amenities include free parking, a gym and a hot tub. Guests are also welcome to use the hotel's free airport shuttle.

There are shops and restaurants within walking distance (the Thunder Bay Mall is an 11-minute walk away). The downtown Thunder Bay area is about a 13-minute drive away, while Lakehead University is about an 11-minute drive away. The Good
The bulk of reviews used for this analysis were positive, and guests commonly complimented the free breakfast and the cleanliness and appearance of the rooms.

Several guests appreciated having breakfast included with their room rate and said that the quality and the selection of the food offered was good. One guest described the breakfast as "bountiful".

Guests said that rooms were clean and well maintained. A number of guests found their rooms to be spacious (particularly the bathrooms) and plenty big enough to be comfortable.

There was a sense from guests that there was good value received for the price that they paid. Several guests said that the price was right.

A number of guests liked this hotel's proximity to the Thunder Bay Expy and to shopping and restaurants. A number of guests said that it was easy to get to. They also liked that it was close to the waterfront and to downtown (a 13-minute drive).

Guests received good service from staff, who regularly went above and beyond to meet guest expectation. Front desk staff went to great lengths to deliver directions, according to guests. Housekeeping staff were particularly friendly.

There were some peripheral comments about comfy beds and about solid Wi-Fi connections.

The Bad
Most of the reviews used for this analysis were positive. Although guests did make a few complaints, they weren't reflective of overall guest experience.

A few guests complained about noisy plumbing, particularly with the showers. Others complained about noise from the nearby airport, and from planes flying overhead. Some guests were disturbed by noise from guests in neighbouring rooms.

There were some additional comments about awkward placement of the TV in the rooms, and about thin towels in the bathrooms.
