The Good
Guests were often very pleased with this hotel.

Rooms were clean, spacious, modern and well appointed, with comfy beds. Guests really liked views of the Rideau Canal, Chateau Laurier and Parliament from west-facing rooms.

The location was perfect. It was an easy walk to the restaurants and shops of Byward Market, on site at the Rideau Centre mall, near transit and walking distance so much of the downtown.

Staff were accommodating, very helpful and professional.

Guests enjoyed dining on site. The food was impressive and guests enjoyed a good wine selection and atmosphere at The Shore Club. Others were very pleased with room service and the breakfast buffet.

Guests also liked: panoramic views offered by floor-to-ceiling windows, very clean and excellent pool, amazing spa services, new and fast elevators, Westin Wags rescue-dog walking program, and direct access to the Rideau Centre from the 3rd floor.

The Bad
Some guests offered suggestions for improvement.

Recent room complaints were: coffee pot was not clean, bed was not comfortable, shower temperature was hard to adjust, small closets in the corner rooms, nowhere to hang a towel and rooms with no view had very poor views.

Noise was a disturbance for some. They heard guests in the hallways, sounds of flushing toilets from neighbouring rooms, the ice machine, the elevator, the hallway AC fan and renovations to the hotel.

Some guests found the hotel expensive. This included extra charges for Wi-Fi and parking, the high price tag for an ordinary breakfast and room rates.

Other comments found were: no coffee and tea in the lobby, breakfast buffet was expensive at $30 per person and the price was not advertised, hot tub was not hot, pool was small, the new high-tech elevators were awkward/difficult for some guests to learn, and there were homeless people nearby on Rideau Street.
