Overview

Located about a 3-minute drive from Ottawa's city centre and a 2-minute drive from the University of Ottawa, the Embassy Hotel and Suites is suitable for business or vacation travellers who prefer a centrally located hotel with extended kitchen amenities and on-site dining.

Each of the hotel's air-conditioned guest rooms and suites offers free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a kitchen, an iron and ironing board and a balcony. Rooms with a desk, a dining area, a living area and sofabed and a separate bedroom are also available, as are smoking, non-smoking and wheelchair-accessible rooms.

Hotel amenities include men's and women's saunas, a fitness room, one meeting room, a business centre, guest laundry, vending machines and a coffee shop. On-site dining is available at The Study Lounge, which serves lunch and dinner Monday through Friday. Self-parking is an additional $12 per day.

Pets are not permitted at this hotel.

Parliament Hill is roughly a 3-minute drive away, while Byward Market and the National Gallery of Canada can both be found 5 minutes away by car. Ottawa International Airport (YOW) is about a 17-minute drive away. (All distances and travel time estimates: Google Maps)

The Good

The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with much praise going to the hotel's location, staff and rooms.

The hotel's location was praised by numerous reviewers, who described it as central and downtown, as well as close to shopping, restaurants, City Hall, Parliament Hill, Byward Market, the University of Ottawa and Notre Dame Cathedral. One patron noted, "The location is excellent for visiting a variety of attractions. Parliament buildings, the University of Ottawa, performing arts theatre, and many others are within walking distance, not to mention several good restaurants and pubs".

Many lodgers were pleased with the level of customer service they received during their stay. They characterized the staff as helpful, accommodating and friendly.

Several guests were pleased with their accommodations at the hotel. They described their rooms as clean, spacious, well equipped, well maintained and quiet, with good Wi-Fi signals. Some travellers had complaints about their lodgings, however (see below).
