Holiday Inn - Ottawa Dwtn - Parliament Hill

Many reviewers described their rooms as clean. A couple of guests also found their rooms well appointed. A few recent reviewers (March and April 2012) mentioned that some guest rooms were undergoing repairs during their stay.

The food quality at the on-site restaurant, Southern Cross and Grill on Queen, was a source of several guest compliments. One guest described the menu as "inventive", while another guest was impressed with the efficient service.

The location of this hotel was also praised by some guests. Reviewers found the hotel convenient for travel to destinations within the business district and Parliament Hill. However, as described below, not all guests found this location ideal for sightseeing.

Many guests expressed frustration with the size of the underground parking facility and the narrow spaces. Several other reviewers found the parking fees expensive. One guest, who was unable to find a parking space, complained that the staff were not able to offer alternative parking options.

There were numerous sources of noise disturbances described in many guest reviews. Several reviewers complained about hearing guest conversations or televisions from neighbouring rooms. A few guests were disturbed by slamming doors, while others were disturbed by street traffic (snow removal trucks, garbage trucks and buses). A couple of reviewers mentioned that their rooms overlooked a restaurant with an outdoor patio and they stated that noise from that establishment was at times a nuisance. 

Many reviews stated that this property was in need of upgrades and/or repairs. Several guests described worn carpeting and window coverings, Sleep Number mattresses not in working-order, old televisions, unreliable elevator service, and dim lighting. A few reviewers also reported a lack of hot water in their bathrooms in the morning and evening. Several guests also found their rooms to be small and cramped.

As mentioned above, some guests had differing opinions about the location of this property. While some guests found the hotel conveniently located for walking to Parliament Hill, other tourist attractions (such as the Rideau Canal and Byward Market) were found to be too far to access on foot.
