Overview
Located on MacLeod Street, nestled in a downtown garden environment, this small bed and breakfast hotel is located about a minute's walk away from the newly renovated Canadian Museum of Nature. On-site amenities include a day spa. This bed and breakfast promotes itself as a green/sustainable business (third party verified), and lists in detail initiatives taken in support of this.

Guests can choose from one of three rooms: the Grande Salon, the East Room or the West Room. The Grande Salon is the largest. In all rooms, guests can expect Wi-Fi, a hair dryer, complimentary bottled water and an iron and an ironing board (on request). Guests share a bathroom with other guests. Parking on site is free, and pets are permitted for no additional cost.

This hotel serves a complimentary continental breakfast every morning. 

There are a number of popular tourist attractions located within walking distance of this hotel, including the Rideau Canal and the Parliament Buildings, which are walkable in around 20 minutes away. The Byward Market is slightly farther, about a 25-30 minute walk away. For guests searching for dining options, this bed and breakfast is not far from Elgin Street (about a 3 minute walk), which has a number of restaurants and shops. Guests travelling by air should know that MacDonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) is about a 20 minute drive (13.4km) away (distances and driving time estimates: Google Maps).

The Good
For guests that had a positive experience at this B&B, much of it had to do with its location and with the hospitality offered by staff.

Guests found the location of this B&B to be very convenient to sights and to restaurants. One guest said that the location of Downtown B&B was "ideal". Another guest said that "Ottawa sights are easily walkable", while another felt that the location was "perfect".

Staff received a number of favourable comments from guests, who used words like "friendly", "warm" and "welcoming" to describe their impressions. A few guests mentioned that staff was particularly helpful in offering suggestions and advice on where to visit and what sights to see.

There were some additional comments on the clean and "well taken care of" rooms.

The Bad
While a number of the reviews used for this analysis were positive, there were a few common threads among complaints, including disappointment with the breakfast and appearance of the B&B itself.

A number of guests expressed disappointment at the selection of food offered at the breakfast, and had apparently expected higher quality food. One guest referred to the breakfast as "ordinary".

A few guests felt that the B&B was "old and cluttered", and that the rooms and the breakfast area suffered from "over-decorating".

There were a few additional complaints, mostly about things like lack of cleaning in the shared bathroom, noise from guests in the other rooms and expensive room prices.
