The Good
This hotel has recently been renovated with updates to the rooms and it offers great value in a central downtown
location.
Guests loved the location which made everything accessible on foot. They could walk to the university, Byward Market, the art gallery and the parliament buildings. It was easy to access mall shopping, a selection of restaurants, a Metro grocery store, Shoppers Drug Mart and the LCBO. There were bus stops just outside the hotel.
Guests liked the newly renovated rooms. They found them clean, spacious and comfortable.
Many chose this hotel for the reasonable room rate, which based upon the location and now updated room made it a great value to the budget-conscious travellers. Parking was also very reasonable for downtown at $10 a night.
The staff were well liked overall by guests. They were mentioned often in the reviews and guests described them as friendly and helpful.
The Bad
This hotel has fared a lot better in the reviews since it has been renovated, but there was still some negative feedback.
more Recent room complaints were: poor sound insulation between rooms, poor water pressure in a guest's shower, room too hot, carpets were not very clean, a stained couch, the smell of the disinfectants/deodorizer is too strong, Wi-Fi unbelievably slow, and lots of noise due to construction.
Recent hotel complaints were: elliptical trainer in fitness room not working, stair well floor tiles slippery when wet, no signs in the corridors indicating where the rooms are located.
Some guests objected to damage deposit holds placed on their credit cards.
Although some guests liked the restaurant on site, a few guests were disenchanted with it for not being open early enough in the morning, for slow service and only accepting cash. Other recent complaints were: tasteless coffee, hash browns tasted like old oil and dated furniture.
