The Good
This hotel offered a pleasant and good value stay for individuals and families, and some liked to use it as a place for a large family retreat.

Although a little dated, guests found the rooms very clean and well maintained. They said the beds and cots were comfortable and the rooms that overlooked the pool were quite warm, like being on a tropical vacation. One guest who had a second floor courtyard room with balcony overlooking the pool said, "It was so nice to step outside your patio door and have lush trees and palm trees all around the pool area and sit on a little bistro table right outside your room and have coffee."

The good-sized and warm-temperature pool and atrium area was a definite highlight, and one recent guest put it well, "The pool area is lovely with sky lights, 2 hot tubs, lots of tables and chairs, some loungers as well as lush trees and bushes to make you feel like you are on a tropical vacation. They also have a change room close by with showers and a washroom."

The Irish pub on site received rave reviews. Guests described the food as hearty and filling, the service excellent, the decor beautiful and the prices reasonable. It served guests well for breakfast as also as a night spot, especially on weekends when there were good live bands playing. One guest recommended the chicken wing chowder (I'd like to try that!) and many said they wanted to return to the pub when in this area.

The location was well liked. It was away from the noise and busy-ness of Clifton Hill with nearby access to the WeGo bus, groceries, drug store and several fast-food restaurants.

Guests often spoke of the staff, who seemed to have made a good impression. They were described as professional, pleasant, very friendly and accommodating.

The Bad
There was not that much negativity, but guests provided suggestions for making the stay even better.

Some guests suggested taking a tower room if not coming with a family, as the rooms around the pool are very noisy. This makes it difficult to sleep-in after 8 am in the morning or to retire early at night as the sounds of guests in the pool area carry into the rooms surrounding it.

Also it was mentioned that TV channels were limited.

Some wished the pool area was open longer for relaxing at night and some suggested an adult-only time period.

Humourously one recent guest advised, "...the hotel's candy vending machines is known to eat your loonies. The hotel happily refunded me, and mentioned its best to stick with quarters."
