The Good
There were many positive reviews online in the reviews that were recently read and considered for this report. It's without a doubt that guests liked the new face lift and management of this property.

Location was a definite strength of the hotel, near to Pelee National Park for the bird watchers coming to the annual spring festival, in walking distance of good restaurants and town, and with easy access to main highways. Some guests pointed out that the hotel is on the main street of Leamington.

Guests liked the newly renovated rooms, when they happened to get one--as not all the rooms are renovated at this time-- May 2015. They found comfortable beds and rooms that they considered to be spacious and quiet, although there were some minor quibbles about the coffee pot being in the washroom and a lack of electrical outlets.

The staff were seen as a definite plus and were described as welcoming, honest and attentive. Bird watchers were very pleased that the hotel provided lunch to go and opened their breakfast at 4 am for them. One guest was called about and sent his forgotten eReader at the staff's initiative.

The breakfast was for the most part complimented by guests for being free, plentiful, replenished quickly and having good variety, with a selection of hot choices.

One recent guest said the pool and hot tub were well kept and another was pleased with a large supply of towels and good water temperatures. One reviewer commented on the parking and said it was plentiful and the lot was well lit.

The Bad
The downside to this hotel was voiced by guests who had not been fortunate enough to get a renovated room.

Complaints centred on these rooms which were described as worn, with stained, smelly carpets, old TVs and uncomfortable beds.

The TVs were described as CRTs having bad picture quality and poor channel selection or no sports channels. Beds were said to be lumpy and uncomfortably hard.

Although many guests seemed to think the value was there, some who got older rooms and paid a higher price during the spring festival were quite disappointed with the hotel.

Occasionally a guest reviewer would complain about smelling smoke in the hotel from the smoking rooms still in existence and about what they thought was the ordinary quality of the free breakfast.
