Overview

Located near Muskoka Wharf on the shores of scenic Muskoka Bay, this hotel appeals to vacationers seeking a waterfront accommodation and snowmobile riders making use of the waterfront access to the hotel.

All rooms are smoke-free, air-conditioned and offer free Wi-Fi, free wired Internet, free local calls, a kitchen (full size fridge, stovetop or stove with oven, microwave, dishwasher, plates, cutlery, cookware, glassware), a coffeemaker, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. There are studio rooms available or suites with one or two separate bedrooms, fireplace, balcony and some with views of the waterfront. Rooms come with king or queen size beds. Pets are allowed for $100 per stay.

There is no on-site restaurant, but guests are offered a complimentary hot breakfast daily. On-site amenities include an indoor pool, a hot tub, a gym, an outdoor fire pit, BBQ area, safe deposit box, guest laundry and free parking.

There are a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel: Boston Pizza is the closest at 3 minutes from the hotel, Dock of the Bay and Wolff's Den Cafe are about 5 minutes on foot and the Sunset Grill and Blue Willow Tea Shop are about a 9-minute walk.

The downtown centre is about a 3-minute drive away and offers restaurants and shopping. Muskoka Steamship Cruises (dinner cruises and tours of Muskoka Bay, closed in the winter) is within walking distance, 5 minutes away. The Gravenhurst Opera House is just under a 20-minute walk away. The Good

The bulk of the reviews used for this analysis were positive. Guests were really impressed with the appearance of the rooms and with this hotel's location on the waterfront.

Guests raved about the bright, modern decor and about the cleanliness of the rooms. Several guests enjoyed the extras in the rooms (such as the gas fireplace and mini-fridge) and said that rooms were well-equipped and comfortable.

For a number of guests, the waterfront views were a big draw. Several guests enjoyed taking in the waterfront from their balconies.

This hotel is in an area that has a lot of greenery, which guests said made the location look very appealing. Guests also appreciated this hotel's proximity to beaches, walking trails, shops and restaurants, many of which were located within a short walking distance.

Staff here were top notch, according to guests. Guests said that staff routinely went out of their way to attend to guest needs and were service-focused.

Several guests enjoyed the pool area and said that it was clean and well-maintained.

A few guests commented favourably on the speed of the Wi-Fi.

The Bad

The vast majority of reviews used for this analysis were positive and guest complaints were rare. However, there were a few isolated guest complaints which did not seem to be reflective of overall guest experience.

A couple of guests said that the complimentary continental breakfast was disappointing (although they did not say why). Some guests also felt that the breakfast area did not have adequate seating to accommodate all the guests who wanted to eat at once.
