Overview

This hotel is located just off Hwy 400 and 8 minutes south of Barrie's downtown core.

The hotel has 104 smoke-free and pet-free rooms on 6 floors with elevator access.

All rooms include free Wi-Fi, free wired Internet, a 32" flat screen HDTV with cable and on-demand movies, a coffeemaker, a desk, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer and climate control.

Some rooms include a sofabed, a mini-kitchen (mini-fridge, microwave, wet bar) and a sitting area. Accessible rooms are available.

Rooms are furnished with 2 queen beds or 1 king bed.

Free parking is available on site.

A free hot breakfast is available to guests daily from 6 am to 10 am.

A free coffee, tea and hot chocolate station with cookies and fruit is available all day in the lobby.

There is no restaurant on site, but guests will find Tim Hortons in a 9-minute walk, Cocelli Pizza an 8-minute walk and many choices in a 6-minute drive.

Hotel amenities include an indoor saltwater pool, a hot tub, a fitness centre, a business centre, 24-hour convenience store, a guest laundry, safety deposit boxes, free newspapers, and meeting rooms.

What's nearby? Centennial Park is a 6-minute drive from the hotel. Georgian College and Georgian mall are a 10-minute drive, as is downtown Barrie which hosts many shops, restaurants and a local theatre. Park Place (formerly Molson Amphitheatre) is a 7-minute drive from the hotel. Horseshoe Valley and Mount St. Louis ski resorts are within a 25-minute drive. Wasaga Beach is a 40-minute drive. The Good

Many guests were very pleased with their stays and the hotel received full marks from lots of reviewers.

Guests were comfortable in their well-maintained rooms. They found them clean with comfy beds, nice linens and towels, and newer TVs. Not all rooms had mini-fridges, but guests were able to request one from the front desk.

Guests liked the location, near the highway, but quiet. Guests said it had easy access to Hwy 400, several affordable restaurants nearby and a grocery store just down the street.

Staff were exemplary.

Breakfast received a lot of positive comments from guests. Many felt it added value to the stay and offered a very nice selection of hot and cold choices, with some changes from day to day.

Some took note of the free coffee, tea, cookies and apples in the lobby and bagged breakfast to go for guests in a rush.

Guests also liked: lots of free parking, a strong Wi-Fi connection, well-maintained grounds, a nice view and a clean and new pool and hot tub.

The Bad

Many felt positively about the hotel and its services, but there was the occasional negative feedback.

Some guests missed having a restaurant and bar on site.

Housekeeping or management sometimes dropped the ball and the front desk assigned rooms that had not been serviced. There was also the occasional area in a room that had been overlooked by the maids. These by far were anomalies, though.

Some guests found noise disturbances from: AC units, doors closing, neighbouring rooms, kids in the halls, and fans on the roof of the building on the top level.

There were some nitpicks over the free breakfast which included the use of paper plates and cups and powdered eggs, and the need for more fresh fruit. One guest pointed out that the seats in the breakfast room were stained and should be re-covered.
