Overview
This waterfront hotel features a private beach, water sports, a BBQ grill and an outdoor pool and is popular with guests who seek resort-style accommodations.

There is a mix of different types of rooms in the 63 units at this hotel. There are oceanside villas and one to three bedroom cottages in addition to standard rooms. All rooms have free Wi-Fi, a coffeemaker and a hair dryer. The cottages and the villas have a full kitchen with a fridge, stove, microwave, pots, pans, cutlery, dishes and dishwasher. Many rooms offer views of the water. Some have a BBQ.
Guests can dine on site at the Pictou Lodge Restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily during the summer season. They also offer a Sunday brunch. In addition to the on-site amenities above, there is free parking, a mini-golf course, a volleyball court, a putting green and a basketball court.
Caribou and Monroe's Island Provincial Park is a 20-minute walk away. Downtown Pictou is just under a 10-minute drive away. Northumberland Ferry Terminal (for guests arriving from PEI) is just over a 10-minute drive away. The Pictou Golf and Country Club is about a 7-minute drive away. Several guests appreciated having a beach on site and enjoyed strolling on the beach and enjoying the ocean views. The Bad
The vast majority of reviews used for this analysis were favourable and guest complaints were only occasional. There were a few common threads among these complaints, mostly about the pricing of the food in the on-site restaurant and with aging decor.

Some of the guests (apparently in some of the older rooms at the hotel that have not been refurbished) felt that the decor was aging and shabby. They suggested that updates were in order and noted TVs, furniture and linens specifically.
There were some peripheral comments about uncomfortable beds that interfered with the quality of sleep and about noise disturbance from guests in other rooms.
