Overview
This hotel is located on the Cabot Trail and is well suited to travellers who are exploring the trail.

All of the 41 rooms at this hotel have free Wi-Fi, a coffeemaker, a TV, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. Standard rooms are furnished with queen or double beds.

More spacious suites offer a kitchenette, a dining area, a sofabed, a propane fireplace and a jetted tub. One-bedroom suites have a private balcony. Two-bedroom suites have a TV in each bedroom, private en suite bathrooms with a jetted tub for each bedroom, a private balcony and numerous beds (two queen beds in one bedroom and a king bed with a sofabed in the other bedroom, in addition to the living room sofabed).

There are one and two-bedroom cottages available with a full kitchen equipped with a fridge, stove and full set of cooking utensils. Some cottages feature an outdoor picnic area with BBQ.

Guests can dine on site at Crofter's Table for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The restaurant is open seasonally, from June through October. On-site amenities include free parking, a private sandy beach, a children's play area, an outdoor pool and a beach bonfire pit. Games include horseshoes, lawn games, basketball and volleyball.

Seaquarium Whale Watching Tours is just under a 15-minute walk away. Downtown Ingonish is a 5-minute drive away. The Highland Links Golf Course is just over a 5-minute drive away. The Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site (which in 2013 will be celebrating Louisbourg300, which marks 300th anniversary of the founding of Île Royale – modern day Cape Breton Island) is just over a 2-hour drive away. (All distances and travel time estimates: Google Maps)

The Good
Although many of the reviews used for this analysis contained criticism, a number of guests praised the hotel's location.

For a number of guests, this hotel's seaside location was a draw. They described the location as peaceful, quiet and scenic. Guests also liked having a private beach on site to enjoy the waterfront setting. Guests liked the added touch of being able to hear the waves from the ocean in their rooms. Guests also liked this hotel's location on the Cabot Trail and said that it was a good home base spot for exploring the trail.

Guests commented favourably about staff and said that they were warm, personable and worked hard to make sure guests were comfortable. Front desk staff and restaurant staff were noted as being very friendly.

The Bad
Most of the reviews used for this analysis were negative and guests were most critical about the hotel's appearance and about mouldy smells in the rooms.

A number of guests suggested that decor was aging and needed to be updated. Guests described the hotel as shabby, tired and dated. Furniture, linens and general decor were noted with suggestions for upgrades.

Several guests complained about mouldy, musty odours in the rooms and suggested that they could be better ventilated.

A few guests said that the hotel could use better signage and was difficult to locate. 

A number of guests complained about being bothered by loud conversations from guests in adjacent rooms and suggested that more could be done to soundproof the walls.
