Overview
This hotel was built in 1859 and is a Nova Scotia Provincial Heritage Property. Guests over the years have included Prince George of Wales in 1884, King George V and former Prime Minister MacKenzie King. This hotel may appeal to travellers who enjoy some history associated with their accommodations.

All 13 rooms have free Wi-Fi, a flat screen TV and a hair dryer. There are a variety of rooms, all furnished with period antiques. King, queen, double and day beds (and combinations of these) are in the rooms. Pets are allowed for a cost of $25 per stay.

There is no on-site restaurant, but guests are served a hot breakfast (which the hotel describes as "country-style") daily. There are a number of restaurants within a 10-minute walk of the hotel. On-site amenities include free parking and outdoor games like croquet, bocce ball and horse shoes.

Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens are under a 5-minute walk away.The Fort Anne Historical Site (place of battle between Europe's empire builders on the shores of the Annapolis River) is just under a 10-minute walk away. The Annapolis Royal Golf Club is just under a 5-minute drive away. Guests were impressed with staff at this hotel and commented on their congenial service. Staff were accommodating and went out of their way to attend to guest needs, doing things like arranging tours and suggesting attractions and restaurants.

Guests said that the hotel was centrally located and said it was within a convenient walking distance to a number of attractions and restaurants. Reviewers appreciated the hotel's tranquil setting, with lots of green space and well-kept lawns. One guest even spotted a family of deer on the hotel property.

The complimentary breakfast was tasty and fresh, according to guests. Guests particularly enjoyed the selection of jams and freshly baked goods.

Many guests appreciated the architecture of this hotel and thought that the historical charm enhanced their stay.

Rooms were said to be clean, comfortable, spacious and nicely decorated.

A couple of guests were inconvenienced by the lack of elevator at this three-storey hotel. Guests recommended that people with mobility issues should request a room on the first floor.
