The Good
Most reviewers felt the hotel, although very dated, offered a clean room and good free breakfast, suitable for an overnight stay, although not really recommended for a longer stay or special occasion.

Guests typically reviewed the rooms as clean, with comfortable beds.

The free breakfast was appreciated by some guests who were pleased to obtain a hot breakfast for free. It was noted by a reviewer that the hotel used "real eggs" for the scrambled eggs and not the liquid or powdered variety of some hotels.

Many lodgers were pleased with the hotel's location. They found it to be close to shopping at the Gander Mall, near to area restaurants, the Gander Airport, Shoppers Drug Mart and the highway.

The hotel's restaurant was the source of several compliments by patrons. They conveyed appreciation for the food quality and menu selection.

Several guests were pleased with the level of customer service they received, and characterized the staff as professional, welcoming and efficient.

The Bad
While many of the reviews sourced for this editorial were positive, there were a few common complaints.

Many guests complained of dated rooms in need of renovation. Complaints included a cracked sink, cracked bathroom tiles, creaking floors, an old wooden window that was difficult to close, musty smelling hallways and room, dated, dirty and thin carpets and old kitchen appliances.

A few guests complained of noise disturbances. They reported being able to hear guests in adjacent rooms and guests walking in rooms overhead, as well as a noisy in-room air conditioning unit and fridge, bus noise in the early morning, and the sound of airplanes flying into the airport.

Sometimes guests felt overcharged. One guest who came with 3 children was disappointed to find out after partaking of the free breakfast that all 3 children had to pay, as it did not cover all the guests in the room. This policy had not been communicated to the guest when booking or prior to having breakfast. Some guests also found the restaurant "more expensive than the rest of town" and some complained of the cost of the rooms for such an old hotel.

More than one described the exterior of the hotel as needing better care. One guest called it shabby with gardens full of weeds.
