Located about a 1-minute drive from the nearest Trans-Canada Highway on-ramp and a 5-minute drive from Sussex's city centre, the Blue Bird Motel & Restaurant is popular with road travellers who prefer a pet-friendly hotel with easy highway access and an on-site restaurant.

This hotel has 50 air-conditioned guest rooms, each offering one or two queen beds, free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a sitting area and a desk. Rooms with a kitchenette are also available. Hotel amenities include a meeting/conference space, free parking and on-site dining at the Blue Bird Restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are not offered. Up to two pets per room are permitted free of charge.

Sussex Golf and Curling Club is roughly a 9-minute drive southeast of the hotel, while Gateway Mall is about a 7-minute drive southwestward.
