The Good
The hotel obtained many compliments from satisfied customers who mentioned the location, room cleanliness, and the quality of the food served at this hotel in the reviews used for this report.

Location was a big plus for many guests who enjoyed being within walking distance of downtown Winnipeg. Guests who mentioned location in a positive manner thought the hotel was in a great area of the city, convenient to dining out and close to the activities that guests came to the city to enjoy.

Many guests complimented the hotel and rooms for cleanliness. Many thought the rooms were spacious and comfortable and some said the beds were very comfortable. Others said the rooms were private and nicely appointed with special mention to the TVs. One guest was pleased to find real cream stocked in the mini-fridge for his upscale in-room coffee machine.

The hotel's food was well-liked by a great number of the guests from all aspects of the dining experience: the breakfast, the restaurant and lounge food, the room service and even conference and banquet food. One guest commented on the classy atmosphere of the main restaurant.

Almost every review included praise for the staff who guests said were very service oriented, welcoming and polite.
The Bad
Although most guests of the Fairmont enjoyed their stay, others voiced unpleasant experiences.

Contrary to the fact that the staff received many positive comments for being friendly, the most common complaint was from several guests who had difficulties with mistakes or oversights of one kind or another made by the staff. One guest had been booked into a smoking room without his knowledge, another found that the hotel had no record of his reservation which he made directly with the hotel, another guest claimed to have made his reservation along with his friends who were all on the Exec floor only to find he was the odd man out and placed in a downgraded room on another floor at the same (higher) price.

Some other complaints were made about "loud drunks at the bar with rude and obnoxious behaviour" that the staff continued to serve. One guest maintained that it was very noisy outside the hotel at night although another guest commented on his room being quiet.

Although some thought the hotel was reasonably priced, one guest complained about the extra parking and Internet fee and that breakfast was not included in the price of the room. Also a couple of guests thought the food at the lounge and restaurant was pricey.

While some guest reviewers thought the hotel was beautiful and ritzy, others felt that the hotel was a little old and not up to the typical quality of the Fairmont brand.
