Overview

Located in Brandon's city centre and south of Highway 459, the royal Oak Inn & Suites Brandon may be well-suited to travellers looking for a centrally-located hotel with easy highway access and recreational amenities such as an indoor pool and waterslide.

This hotel has 158 air-conditioned guest rooms and suites, each offering cable TV, free Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge, a microwave, a coffeemaker, a desk, a hair dryer, and an iron and ironing board. Standard rooms offer one queen bed with a sofabed, or two queen beds, while suites offer separate living areas. Executive floor rooms provide a complimentary breakfast.

Hotel amenities include a meeting and conference facility, an indoor pool, waterslide and hot tub, a fitness room, and a nightclub. Parking is free and pets are permitted for a $10 per pet per night fee. This hotel is wheelchair accessible.

The hotel's on-site restaurant Echo Restaurant and Wine Bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. Other nearby dining options include Sushi Hut and Clay Pot Cafe (both under a 6 minute walk east of the hotel), and Bob's Steakhouse (5 minute southwest on foot).

Most reviewers praised the hotel's location. They described it as centrally-located in Brandon, convenient, and close to many restaurants and shops. It was also mentioned by these guests that the hotel was easy to find, with easy highway access.

Several guests complimented their accommodations at the hotel. They found their rooms to be clean and well laid-out with comfortable beds. One guests remarked the rooms were, "always neat and clean when we returned".

Reviewers had opposing experiences with the staff and customer service. While many found the staff to be friendly, accommodating and efficient, an equal number of reviewers were disappointed with the service they received (see below).

The Bad

Negative reviews found for this analysis mentioned the rooms' temperature, noise transfer and staff.

Several guests had complaints about the temperature of their rooms in the lower floors of the hotel. They found their rooms to be extremely hot and uncomfortable, which, when reported to the front desk was remedied with a portable fan. Others complained of their rooms being freezing, and being told by staff there was nothing that could be done.

Some lodgers were disappointed with the noise disturbances they experienced during their stay. They described hearing noise from loud and drunken guests, from children using the pool when staying in poolside rooms, and loud music late at night from the on-site restaurant.

As mentioned above, some reviewers found the staff to be pleasant, however an equal number of reviewers felt otherwise. These guests felt as though they were an imposition to the staff and found them unfriendly.
