The Good
This friendly and well-maintained property was well pleasing to many guests, lots of whom were returning or planned to return for yet another stay. Value for price, on-site amenities, cleanliness, accommodating staff and convenient location were some of the main draws.
more Guests described the rooms as clean and comfortable with good TVs and shower pressure, and many found comfy beds.
The price was right. Many guests felt this hotel provided good value and a pleasant stay.
The staff were described as friendly, helpful and responsive.
The location was a highlight. Guests could explore the Upper Harbour district on bicycle or walk along the Gorge Waterway, enjoying the beautiful vistas. They could walk along the water's boardwalk and reach the Inner Harbour and Parliament buildings downtown. The Galloping Goose trail that goes across the gorge could be accessed within a half block's distance. The bus stop is directly outside the hotel, making it convenient for those using public transit. One guest remarked that the location was a peaceful and safe one with nearby restaurants.
The hotel was also very dog friendly and guests liked having a small off-leash dog park adjacent to the hotel.
Guests were typically pleased with the indoor pool on site.
Some recent guests enjoyed breakfast and other meals on site, although the restaurant ownership was in transition. One recent guest said, "The food was better and less expensive then some of the better restaurants in town."
The Bad
Although this hotel was well liked by its guests, there was the occasional negative feedback.
more There were some complaints about the lack of an elevator to one of the floors. The manager responding explained how 2 of the hotel's 3 floors can be accessed without stairs due to the way the hotel is built and there is only one flight of stairs to the third level, and staff will help with carrying luggage. It seems that this hotel is built into the hill.
Occasionally, a guest would mention that the hotel was a little dated.
A few guests missed having a hot tub.
Some guests mentioned noise transfer from the bar music downstairs, neighbouring rooms, plumbing sounds, AC units and bathroom fan.
