Overview

Located about an 8-minute drive from Vancouver's city centre along Highway 99, Granville House B&B is suitable for guests who prefer centrally located bed-and-breakfast-style accommodations with a free breakfast buffet, meeting/banquet space and easy highway access.

Each of this smoke-free hotel's guest rooms comes equipped with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a mini-fridge, an in-room safe, a bathrobe and slippers for each guest, an iPod dock, a desk, an iron and ironing board and a hair dryer. Rooms with a private terrace, a sitting area and a jetted tub are also available, and the hotel is not wheelchair accessible.

The hotel also offers meeting space, a garden, free parking and a free breakfast buffet. Pets are not permitted.

Granville Island Public Market is about an 8-minute drive away, while VanDusen Botanical Garden is 2 minutes away by car. The Good

The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with much praise going to the hotel's location, rooms, staff and breakfast.

Many lodgers were pleased with the hotel's location. They described it as central and easy to find, as well as close to public transit, restaurants, Granville Island, Gastown, the ferry terminal and Children's & Women's Health Centre of British Columbia.

Numerous guests praised their accommodations at the hotel. They found their rooms to be clean, spacious, luxurious, quiet, modern and well equipped, with comfortable beds and linens. A few patrons did have complaints about their rooms, however (see below).

The hotel's staff were the source of several compliments by reviewers. They were characterized as friendly, accommodating and helpful with recommendations and directions.

Several travellers enjoyed the hotel's free breakfast, describing it as excellent and amazing. One patron noted, "Breakfast was self-serve buffet with a good assortment of items including one cooked item each morning".

The Bad

While the majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a few complaints about the hotel's rooms.

Although the majority of reviewers praised their clean and comfortable rooms, a few lodgers had complaints. They reported a fair amount of road noise at the front of the hotel, as well as inefficient air conditioning and a lack of individual room-temperature control. One guest noted, "The road noise from Granville is loud and constant; it is a main and well-used thoroughfare. This means that your windows will very likely be closed at night and the AC will be on, or you will be wearing earplugs".
