The Good
Many recent reviews from 2014 and 2015 consulted for this analysis were positive and mentioned the staff, the restaurant and the value. These recent comments were noticeably more positive compared to older reviews. It is possible the hotel may have made some improvements in recent years to reflect this shift.

The Bad
While the majority of recent reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a few common complaints about the room decor and TV reception.
Several guests complained about their rooms' decor and furnishings at this hotel, reporting older rooms that smelled and needed repairs. It should be noted however, that most reviewers found their rooms to be clean and spacious. It appears that some of the rooms have been renovated and there are a few more to go.
Some lodgers were disappointed with the hotel's TV reception. They reported only being able to get a few channels and described the reception as a bit fuzzy. The manager explained that they only have an antenna and no Rogers or Shaw Cable in the city and that during snow storms the reception is gone.
A couple of recent guests claimed they were overcharged for their rooms. One guest said he was charged $20 in addition to what he paid to Booking.com. Another recent guest claimed he had booked a room with a mini-fridge and was not provided one, nor did the room have cable/satellite TV as advertised, nor was the pool and hot tub open as expected. And in addition he was overcharged for the room.
