Overview

Located across from the ocean and about a 2-minute drive from the nearest Highway 17 on-ramp, The Cedarwood Inn and Suites is geared towards travellers who prefer a pet-friendly hotel with easy highway access, extended kitchen amenities and free Wi-Fi.

Each of the hotel's non-smoking guest rooms comes equipped with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a coffeemaker and a desk. Hair dryers are available upon request, as are rooms with a balcony, a separate bedroom, a sitting area and sofabed and a kitchen. Self-contained cottages are also available. The hotel is not wheelchair accessible.

Hotel amenities include BBQ facilities, guest laundry, a garden and free parking. Up to two pets per room are permitted upon request, free of charge.

Sidney's city centre is roughly a 4-minute drive from the hotel, while Sidney/Anacortes Ferry Terminal is a 6-minute walk away. The Good

The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with much praise going to the hotel's location, staff and rooms.

The hotel's location was praised by numerous guests, who found it close to the ocean, downtown Sidney, Sidney/Anacortes Ferry Terminal, Butchart Gardens, shopping and the airport. One patron noted, "An 8-10 minute easy stroll along the beautiful seawalk to downtown Sidney as well as being right next to the Anacortes ferry; 8 minutes from Swartz Bay ferries; 15 minutes to Butchart Gardens and 25 minutes from downtown Victoria". A few guests did report a lack of restaurants in the immediate area, however.

Many lodgers complimented the hotel's staff, characterizing them as friendly, accommodating, helpful and knowledgeable. One guest remarked, "From start to finish the customer service was amazing! Peter at the front desk took such good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed".

Several reviewers were pleased with their accommodations at the hotel. They described their rooms as spacious, quiet, cozy, clean and well equipped, with fantastic ocean views. A few travellers had complaints about their lodgings, however (see below).

The Bad

Although the majority of guests enjoyed their clean and well-equipped rooms, a few lodgers had complaints about their accommodations. They reported dated decor and furnishings, dark rooms, musty odours, old TVs and worn towels. Noise transfer from airplanes overhead was also reported by a couple of lodgers.

A few guests were disappointed with the hotel's rates and described them as overpriced and expensive.
