The Good
In recent reviews read for this report guests conveyed that they had enjoyed pleasant stays and liked certain aspects of this hotel. Many not only gave their approval, but also recommended this hotel in their comments.
more The hotel had renovated certain common areas (the lobby and breakfast room) which guests seemed to really like and was still in the process of fixing up the hallways and elevator. This did not seem to mar the stay for them and guests were pleased to find some newly renovated rooms which they called clean, quiet (if on the back side of the property), and with comfortable beds.
The staff were frequently complimented for their friendly and attentive service. One guest mentioned how they had put a cot in the room while they were out, after overhearing one of their sons complain about sharing a bed with his brother.
Guests enjoyed the generous and good quality free breakfast on site (one guest emphatically called it excellent), the good service of the breakfast attendant and said the meals at the Greek restaurant on site were delicious.
Value was another strength of the hotel. Guests typically felt they had received a fair room price for the quality of the stay and said the free breakfast helped to save on the travel budget.
Some guests found the location convenient to the Alaska Ferry terminal, the Yellowhead Highway, groceries, restaurants and Prince Rupert attractions.
The Bad
There were some guests who were not overly impressed with the hotel, but these were few and far between, in the recent reviews read online for this report.
more The hotel is in the process of renovating and some guests stayed in older rooms yet to be renovated, which they described as very dated with musty odour.
Although some guests were pleased with comfortable beds, other guests found the beds uncomfortable, either too soft or too hard for their liking.
Sometimes guests were upset to find a brownish tinge to the water at the hotel, which was explained as being typical for Prince Rupert.
A few guests had difficulty lifting the shower diverter on their tub's water spout to get the water to the shower head.
