The Good
Guests who stayed at this hotel recently, seemed to have enjoyed the hotel, which has some notable things on offer.
One was the location, which guests found convenient to the highway, shopping and good restaurants in walking distance, including Moxies and Earls.
Another positive for many guests, was the congenial and efficient front desk staff who were sometimes mentioned by name.
Although the rooms were often described as small, guests usually found them in a clean and updated state. The best part of the hotel, however, seemed to be the rooms in the tower, or newer section which was also called the "king suite section". It had elevator access and newer, more spacious rooms which were the highlight of the hotel, with some having 1 or 2 separate bedrooms and a full kitchen and balcony. Guests also liked the junior suites with kitchen in the older section.
The hotel is attached to a Denny's restaurant which is open 24 hours. Guests who commented on the Denny's usually indicated that it was convenient to have a restaurant on site for breakfast and take-out meals.
The Bad
There were several common themes among the complaints posted online in reviews. It seems that the older, motel section has seen some updates, but could still use some TLC, as one reviewer put it.
Many guests described their rooms as small and some felt the hotel still had a drab, dingy or tired appearance and was in need of better cleaning and maintenance. Although some guests liked the new wallpaper and colour scheme, some guests found the grey wallpaper and brown bedding made the rooms too dark.
Other room complaints included: stale smoke or mildew smells, stained bed sheets, mildew on grouting, tiles and shower curtain, dusty surfaces, non-functioning AC units, and old sofabeds that caved in the middle.
Sometimes, it appeared that guests were given rooms that were unserviced by housekeeping.
Loud and partying neighbours disturbed the sleep of a few guests, who sometimes found the staff unable to quell the din. Noisy AC units and rooms near to the laundry room were also a problem for a small number of guests.
The parking lot was small and hard to access. Sometimes guests would come back to the hotel and find no spot and guests with trucks and trailers found the spaces tight.
Sometimes guests were disturbed by the smell of smoke that came into the hotel through Denny's staff or guests who were smoking outside, near the door or stairs, and some complained of smelling smoke in the hallways of the hotel.
