North Vancouver has a good selection of hotels to choose from with reasonable room rates, most of the hotels having earned good ratings. In our search for optimized value, we compared prices against offerings while considering guest opinion.

The beauty of staying in North Van is that you can access downtown Vancouver over the Lions Gate Bridge in just under 15 minutes by car, or in about 25 minutes by bus and avoid the expensive downtown prices for a room.

Also guests should be aware that a lot of the less costly hotels in downtown Vancouver don’t have air conditioning, whereas in North Van, they do. Sounds like the best of both worlds, especially if you consider that the neighbourhood in North Vancouver is much more residential and peaceful, offering a better nighttime atmosphere for sleeping.

Quiet and clean North Vancouver hotel with kitchenettes and outdoor pool
The North Vancouver Hotel is our pick for a lower priced stay in North Van. It’s a basic, motel-style accommodation that provides good value. It offers friendly service, clean, well-equipped and air-conditioned rooms and a well-liked free hot breakfast. I like that all rooms come fitted with microwaves and mini-fridges; this is a big plus for chilling beer and wine, or eating in sometimes and a wonderful benefit for young families. It's only a 14-minute drive to the heart of downtown Vancouver and parking is free for those guests staying with cars. If you are looking to save money on your hotel stay, this is a good choice. Other hotels in the area with similar ratings are quite a jump in price.

This property is located close to public transit with a bus stop about a 1-minute walk from the property and it also has good access to the Trans-Canada Hwy which is only a minute's drive away. There are several restaurants along Marine Drive about a 5-minute walk from the hotel, including popular choices such as Earls and Denny's.

Guests can enjoy a dip in the outdoor swimming pool or rent a bicycle from the hotel to explore the area. Besides free local calling, the hotel offers free gym and pool passes to Steve Nash Fitness World. There's no elevator to the second floor, so guests not able or wanting to climb stairs should reserve a room on the first level.

Pros
  • Free Wi-Fi, free parking, free breakfast
  • Most guests were pleased with the hotel's proximity to the area's tourist attractions and the Trans-Canada
  • The staff and management were complimented by several reviewers
  • Many lodgers gave positive feedback about the hotel's free breakfast
Cons
  • A few reviewers complained about noise transfer between rooms and highway traffic noise
  • A couple of guests expressed disappointment that there was no elevator to the second floor

Comfy North Vancouver hotel in a well-liked location with free breakfast and free parking
The Comfort Inn and Suites comes highly recommended by its guests and is our pick for one of the best values in North Van. It was recently renovated in 2013 and if you can get a room between $80 and $115, it’s a very good buy. There is parking, Wi-Fi and a well-liked free hot and cold breakfast thrown in for free as well, definitely adding much value for that price.

It’s located just down the street from the North Vancouver Hotel on Capilano Road near to Marine Drive in an excellent location, close to all amenities, highways and downtown Vancouver as well as the attractions and city centre of North Vancouver.

Rooms are air conditioned here as well, clean and inviting with all the standard amenities. Good value hotel in North Vancouver with spacious rooms and free passes to Fitness World
Delivering a good bang for the buck, the Best Western Capilano Inn & Suites is our third choice for value in North Vancouver. The rooms have been updated, are air conditioned, spacious and inviting with modern bedding. Guest reviews reveal that guests liked the rooms and found the beds comfy and many found the hotel to offer good value.

Although it offers free Wi-Fi and parking, there’s no free breakfast here (you’ll have to suffer through De Dutch Pannekoek House* on site—just kidding), and not all the rooms come with mini-fridge and microwave. Guests do get free passes to the nearby Fitness World which is a comprehensive fitness centre complete with indoor pool, tanning section and a spa, and there's an outdoor pool with sun deck at the hotel, but no elevator.

The hotel is located in the same excellent area as the above hotels, just down the street from the Comfort Inn with gas station, shopping and dining nearby. Guests can also enjoy the area attractions, Grouse Mountain for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer, about a 9-minute drive from the hotel and Capilano Suspension Bridge
, a 3-minute drive away.

*De Dutch Pannekoek House offers delicious specialty pancakes, although you may want to check out the prices first before you sit down, as some guests have complained about expensive prices. If it's too costly for your budget, the nearby Denny's may fit the bill for breakfast.

  • The location was praised by many, who described it as close to local attractions and highway access
  • Many guests found the beds comfortable and the rooms spacious and clean
