The Good
This hotel was very well liked by its guests who considered it to deliver great value, high quality rooms and a friendly experience.
more The hotel is located in downtown Kamloops which is close to restaurants, shopping and the VIA rail station which occasionally drops off guests from the Rocky Mountaineer. One guest who stayed for work exclaimed, " Within a five minute walk you will find the core of downtown shopping, best restaurants, cafes, grocery, library, art gallery, theatres and the hospital. This is the best location!"
Guests found the rooms to be very clean with high quality furnishings and updates. Beds were frequently described as very comfortable with quality linens and some guests enjoyed mountain views from the higher floors.
Guests enjoyed dining on site and having a buffet breakfast which was usually described as good quality.
The staff were very well liked for being efficient and very friendly to the guests. Guests were often welcomed with a warm chocolate chip cookie and bottled water and were given free coffee in the lobby in the mornings. Several reviewers told of how the staff went above and beyond to accommodate their specific needs.
The facilities were also sufficiently maintained and well pleasing. Guests spoke of enjoying the outdoor hot tub, pool and gym.
The Bad
Guest complaints focused on a few shortcomings in the hotel's overall service.
The former Coast property was taken over by Hilton and renovated, but the bathrooms were still small and awkwardly configured. Some complained of no bathroom fans.
Guests enjoyed dining on site and the room service in particular, but it seems the hotel had trouble staffing the restaurant and service could be slow to non-existent at times.
A few guests found the downtown district of Kamloops to be a little depressing. Some called it run down, and occasionally guests mentioned this as the downside to the hotel.
Other comments found: no plugs bedside the bed, difficulty controlling in-room temperature, gym was too warm and quite small, no microwave in the room and loud AC unit.
