Overview

This hotel is situated near the downtown core of Fort St. John and is well located for guests who are looking to access downtown destinations on foot. The North Peace Cultural Centre (entertainment venue and library) is a 4-minute walk away, while the Lido Theatre (events, performing arts and movies) is 6 minutes away on foot.

All 125 guest rooms are smoke-free and include free Wi-Fi, a flat screen TV, a coffeemaker, a mini-fridge, a microwave, a desk with ergonomic chair, an iron and ironing board, heated bathroom floors and individual climate control. Rooms are furnished with 1 king bed or 2 queen beds. Room extras include bathrobes, free movies, a fax line, a sitting area, a second TV in the bedroom, a living room with sofa and a double jacuzzi.

Free parking is available on site. The hotel provides an airport shuttle Monday through Friday, for $10 each way. Pets are permitted for an additional fee of $25 per night.

A free hot breakfast buffet is served daily from 6 am to 11 am. The on-site Overtime Sports Bar & Grill serves lunch and dinner daily and offers family dining and a separate sports bar with HD TVs. It is open until 10 pm on weekdays and until 11 pm on weekends. The hotel provides free coffee and tea in the lobby and offers guests welcome cookies.

Other on-site amenities include a fitness centre, a games room, a 24-hour business centre, elevators and meeting/conference space. The Quality Liquor store on site carries clothing, gifts, snacks and gift baskets as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The Pomeroy Sports Centre and the Fort St. John Curling Club can be accessed on foot in 10-12 minutes and are both 3 or 4 minutes away by car. The Totem Mall is a 5-minute drive away. Access to the Alaska Highway (Hwy 97) is 5 minutes away by car, while the North Peace Regional Airport (YXJ) is a 12-minute drive away. (All travel time estimates: Google Maps)

The Good

Many guests enjoyed their stays and they highlighted several things that pleased them.

Guests liked the recent renovations at the hotel. They considered the hotel to be well maintained and even upscale in its decor. They felt comfortable in very well-cleaned rooms that were nicely appointed, and many mentioned the heated bathroom floors as a nice touch. Wi-Fi was often mentioned as having a strong signal.

Breakfast was a definite hit with guests with many who voiced their appreciation of it. They called it an excellent spread, incredible, awesome and "the best free breakfast I have seen in a long time". One guest mentioned that it offered "homey extras" that made it even more delightful.

Guests definitely liked the staff here. They were described as excellent, attentive and friendly, and were sometimes mentioned by name for going above and beyond to help guests. Many liked the quick and efficient check-ins and check-outs.

Guest reviewers did not mention the location very often, but those few that did said it was in walking distance to amenities and convenient to the airport.

The Bad

There were very few complaints or concerns found for this hotel, among the reviews sourced for this editorial, although a couple of guests found parking could be tight or limited in the front of the hotel.
