The Good
Guests provided a mix of positive and negative reviews. The hotel is currently being renovated with management planning to paint, change carpeting and drapes in all rooms by the end of 2015.

Some guests found rooms they considered clean, a good size and well equipped with comfortable beds.

Many reviewers liked the staff of this hotel. They found the front desk staff to be friendly, responsive to guest concerns and requests, and knowledgeable.

It was a convenient area: right by the Silver Bridge, a good spot for an overnight when catching the Victoria ferry the next day, near the Greyhound bus terminal and across (8 minutes' walk) from the Duncan Mall.

Guests typically enjoyed the restaurant and pub. Guests mentioned enjoying a good burger on site with very friendly wait staff.

The hotel also had a nice garden, and guests enjoyed sitting in the courtyard under the giant cedar tree.

The Bad
Reviews offered mixed opinions of the facility and service.

Room complaints found recently were: small rooms, uncomfortable mattresses, dated and worn, completely run down, not enough electrical outlets, dirty bathroom, threadbare carpets, room smelled of smoke, mildew odour in room, mould on the bathroom tiles, dirty looking carpets, old hard stale sugar packets, room did not look like it had been cleaned in a while, sofabed looked old and dirty,TV was horrible, snowy, couldn't even watch it, toilet leaked at the base, room had appearance of needing a serious upgrade.

Some guests were disturbed in their rooms by noise from: yelling and unruly behaviour from patrons of the on-site bar, loud music from the bar, noisy parking lot and a noisy fridge and AC unit.

A few guests complained about the exterior of the hotel. One guest in the summer complained about the grounds being very poorly maintained with weeds and untrimmed shrubbery and others said the entry to the motel was shabby. Another felt the area was a bit rough.

Some guests mentioned that one had to walk a couple of blocks in order to cross the street (where shopping and restaurants were).

Some guests mentioned errors made by staff such as: double charges and assigning rooms that had not been cleaned from the previous guest.
