Overview

Located along Highway 19A and about a 3-minute walk from Courtenay's city centre, River Heights Motel is geared towards travellers who prefer a well-priced and centrally located hotel with extended kitchen amenities, free Wi-Fi and easy highway access.

Each of the hotel's guest rooms comes equipped with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a microwave, a mini-fridge, a desk, a fan and a sitting area. Rooms with a kitchen and a separate bedroom are also available, as are smoking and non-smoking rooms.

Free parking and guest laundry facilities are also offered. The hotel is not wheelchair accessible. Pets are permitted for $5 per pet, per day.

Courtenay Riverway is about a 3-minute walk from the hotel, while Glacier View Plaza can be found 9 minutes away on foot. The Good

The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with compliments going to the hotel's rates, staff, rooms and location.

The hotel's rates were praised by numerous reviewers. They described them as cheap, affordable, competitive, budget friendly and inexpensive.

Many lodgers were pleased with the level of customer service they received during their stay. They characterized the staff as friendly, accommodating and responsible.

Several guests enjoyed their accommodations at the hotel. They described their rooms to be clean, spacious, well maintained and quiet, with comfortable beds. Some patrons were disappointed with their lodgings, however (see below).

The hotel's location was convenient for several travellers. They found it to be central and close to highway access, Comox, Mount Washington, restaurants and grocery stores.

The Bad

While the majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were some common complaints about the rooms and noise transfer.

Although several reviewers enjoyed their clean and spacious rooms, some guests criticized their accommodations. They reported no air conditioning, dated decor, worn fixtures, no bathroom fans, old TVs and no hair dryers.

A few lodgers complained of noise disturbances during their stay. They reported traffic noise (recommending rooms at the back of the hotel instead), as well as noise in rooms near the laundry rooms and noise from guests in adjacent and overhead rooms.
