Overview

Located about a 7-minute drive from Courtenay's city centre and the ocean, The Villas at Crown Isle Resort are geared towards business or vacation travellers who prefer a centrally located hotel with a golf course, extended kitchen amenities and meeting/banquet space.

Each of this smoke-free hotel's rooms comes equipped with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, air conditioning, a coffeemaker and a balcony or patio. Rooms with a kitchenette or full kitchen, a separate bedroom, a washer and dryer, a fireplace and a jetted tub are also available and the hotel is not wheelchair accessible.

Hotel amenities include an 18-hole golf course, a fitness centre, meeting/banquet facilities, a business centre, a gift shop, guest laundry and free parking. On-site dining is offered at Timber Room Pub (serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily) and Timber Room Restaurant, which serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday. A free airport shuttle is also offered upon request (please contact the hotel for details).

One pet per room is permitted for an additional $25 per pet, pet stay.

Courtenay and District Memorial Outdoor Pool can be found 5 minutes away by car, while North Island College is about a 2-minute drive from the hotel. The Good

The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with much praise going to the hotel's restaurants, rooms, location and staff.

The hotel's restaurants were the source of many compliments by reviewers. They described them as very good, tasty and well presented, with reasonable rates and attentive service.

Numerous lodgers praised their accommodations at the hotel. They found their rooms to be clean, spacious, well equipped, luxurious, quiet and well maintained, with great views of the golf course and comfortable beds. A few patrons had complaints about their lodgings, however (see below).

Several guests were pleased with the hotel's location. They found it close to shopping, a grocery store, Mt. Washington, Costco, the airport and North Island College. One guest noted, "The Crown Isle property is beautiful...a real oasis from the bustling town of Courtenay".

The hotel's staff were also complimented by several travellers. They were characterized as friendly, helpful, professional and responsive.

The Bad

While the majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, there were a few complaints about the rooms.

Although the majority of guests praised their spacious and well-maintained rooms, a few lodgers criticized their accommodations. They reported dated decor, a lack of cooking utensils, a few cleaning issues and some noise disturbances from guests in adjacent rooms.
