Overview

This luxury waterfront resort hotel and spa is located on Brentwood Bay and offers the opportunity to explore the area by kayak, paddleboard, scuba diving charter or eco-adventure tours. It's an attractive option for leisure guests wanting to enjoy a peaceful getaway near the sea with relaxing spa treatments.

Guests can choose from standard rooms, or more spacious suites that have separate bedroom(s), and an outdoor deck with a hot tub. Private residences featuring 1800 square feet of living space are available as well, offering two bedrooms with ensuite baths, a den, gourmet kitchen and living areas that open to a deck with ocean views.

All rooms are smoke free and offer free Wi-Fi, free long distance calls, a Keurig coffeemaker, tea kettle, a private bar, a fireplace, a balcony or a deck, spa-like bathrooms with an oversized soaker tub or jacuzzi, heated floor tiles, leather recliner chairs, a 40-inch flat screen TV, a safe, an iHome system, a hair dryer, bathrobes, slippers and an iron and an ironing board.

Free parking is available on site. Pets are allowed at this hotel for $30 per night in certain pet-friendly rooms.

Breakfast is served from 7:30 am to 11 am daily and dinner is available from 5:30 pm in the hotel's Dining Room which offers a seaside patio. Guests can enjoy lunch, dinner or drinks at the Brentwood Pub daily. There are several restaurants in walking distance of the hotel as well.

On site amenities include free parking, a small workout room, and a day spa with outdoor heated pool and a hot tub.

It will take about 6 minutes to drive to Butchart Gardens and guests can access it by boat across the bay. A cluster of attractions like the Inner Harbour, BC Whale Tours and the BC Maritime Museum are all just over a 30-minute drive.

Guests travelling by air should budget about 20 minutes to cover the 13.1 km between the hotel and Victoria International Airport (YYJ) (distances and driving time estimates: Google Maps).

Confirmed with the front desk on May 20, 2015: Pets are welcome for $30 per night and the entire property is non-smoking.

The Good

Guests of this hotel had much to say about exceptional service from staff and scenic views afforded by the waterfront location. They typically enjoyed dining on site and found the rooms and facilities very clean.

There were a number of comments from guests about the high level of service they received from staff. Guests used phrases like "service was amazing with a strong attention to detail" and "friendly and fast" to describe their impressions. Several guests mentioned specific staff members by name.

The rooms, including the decor and the layout, were a huge hit with guests, who commented specifically on their beautiful design and on the luxurious bathrooms.

A number of guests also commented on the serenity of the surroundings, and on the impressive views from their rooms and from some common areas in the hotel. Guests used words like awesome and superb to describe them.

Several guests enjoyed dining on site, and attributed their positive experiences to good food, good service, and nice ambiance provided by the setting and the views.

There were a few peripheral comments on things like the quality of the spa services. A few guests said that they enjoyed the hot tub and found it sparkling clean.

The Bad

While the majority of the comments used for this analysis were positive, guests did have some issues in common with other guests of the hotel indicating some weak spots in the hotel's service.

A few guests felt the resort had small grounds and that there wasn't much of interest in the town. It therefore seemed a little isolated.

Some guests did not enjoy their meals on site and found the portions too small and the meals too expensive.

There were a few additional complaints, centring on things like hard beds and poor Wi-Fi.
