Reviews were mixed overall, but some guests found the hotel to offer a clean room at a good value.
The hotel has new owners and is also seeing some renovations. Guests who got renovated rooms reported them to be comfortable, clean and well maintained. Many commented on comfortable beds.
Guests typically enjoyed the pool area which offers an indoor courtyard, filled with trees and plants. One guest wrote, "The atmosphere was very calming and relaxing, and having the bright open sky light near the pool made the hotel seem even more welcoming."
A number of guests liked this hotel's downtown location, in walking distance of shops, restaurants, trails and the hospital.
Many guests found the staff friendly and welcoming, but they didn't have a perfect record as some guests also complained about them.
For the most part, guests seemed to enjoy the free hot breakfast buffet, but there were some who felt it was lacking.
Guests who did not like this hotel were usually very upset with the state of the room they had been assigned and some vowed never to return.more
These guests described rooms that were badly worn with filthy and stained carpets, dim lighting, slow drains, noisy and inefficient AC units, very old TVs, mouldy ceiling tiles and scuffed furniture. Some also felt the parking lot was in need of resurfacing and there were repairs needed in the pool area. A few guests complained about the elevators stopping mid-trip and the doors banging into guests.
Some guests said their rooms were not well cleaned, with poorly vacuumed carpets, dusty and sticky areas. Several guests had water temperature issues.
Guests who paid mid-range prices felt the hotel was overpriced.
The breakfast buffet received mixed reviews, with some enjoying it and some find the food cold, rubbery or hard with not enough fresh fruit or vegetarian options.
Although guests usually liked the pool, one reviewer mentioned that it could not be walked into with a shallow area, but guests and children had to climb down a ladder to enter. Also the hot tub had no seats, so guests had to stand up while in the hot tub which felt odd and uncomfortable to several reviewers. One reviewer complained about the tropical courtyard having fake plants and occasionally a guest would complain that the restaurant overlooked the pool making it less private for those swimming.
