The Good
Some guests liked this hotel for the lower room rate it provided, the nearby access to the airport with free shuttle, and the extended parking available.
Although many said the rooms had dated decor, many guests also described their rooms as large with gas fireplaces and comfortable beds. While some guests said their rooms were clean, there were others complaining of rooms that were not clean to the standard they were expecting.
The room rates were low and guests liked that there was a prompt free shuttle to the airport included.
Staff were described as very accommodating and friendly. They were able to provide suggestions for dining and some described them as quite helpful (although this did not cover all the staff).
Guests found the location handy to the airport and a few dining spots nearby.
The Bad
There was a lot of areas where the hotel did not function professionally and the guest scores were mixed, showing a lot of variance in guest opinion.
Recent room complaints were: poor Internet and no cables available for the wired Internet, room smelled gross, no heat in the room, room too hot, towels had strings and were ratty, pillows too large and hard, hair in the bed, sheets seemed yellow and smelled, uncomfortable beds, carpets needed better vacuuming, gross/mildew shower curtain, mould and grime in bathroom, dirty bathroom floor, dirty fixtures, no water from taps in the bathroom, expected a double jacuzzi in the Royal Suite and it only could fit one person, bitten all over by bugs (stayed May 2015), large rooms without enough furniture and retro decor very loud and tacky.
Some found amenities broken: broken lock on the door, the electric curtains were falling down, the rotating bed was broken and did not spin, broken elevator, broken coffee dispenser, TV remote did not work, bare bulbs hanging from wall and taps in bathroom were loose.
The free breakfast often received complaints: milk was off, all packet food, tiny and pitiful, week-old bagels, dried out bread and muffins--inedible, and a hot drink machine that only works during breakfast. Also there was nothing for guests who left before 6 am.
Noise was a problem for some. Guests said they could hear their neighbours, as well as train horns and street noise. Others complained of loud heaters and bathroom fans.
Occasionally guests complained about the shuttle service. One guest said the driver brought him to the wrong airport and refused to pick him up again, although he had said to call if it was the wrong one. Another said the driver was speeding, rolling through stop signs and cutting corners.
Some guests reported failed wake up calls and poor communication scheduling the airport shuttle, and unexpectedly poor service from staff members.
