Overview
Located about 2 minutes by car, or 10 minutes on foot, from Jasper's town centre and a 1-minute drive from the Yellowhead Highway, the Maligne Lodge is popular with road travellers visiting or passing through the area, who require a hotel with an indoor pool, extended kitchen amenities and easy highway access.

This hotel has 98 air-conditioned guest rooms and suites, each offering free Wi-Fi, cable TV, a coffeemaker, a mini-fridge, a desk and a hair dryer. Standard rooms offer one king, two double or two queen beds. Guests can request an iron and ironing board.

Various suites offer additional amenities such as a kitchenette or a full kitchen, a separate bedroom, a living area with a sofabed, a wood-burning fireplace, a sauna, a balcony, an iPod docking station and/or sleeping accommodations for up to eight people.

Hotel amenities include an indoor pool, an outdoor hot tub and sauna, fitness facilities, guest laundry facilities, free parking and a free shuttle from Jasper's Via Rail station (advance booking required).

The lodge's dining rooms serve breakfast between 7 am and 10 am on weekends only, for an additional charge of $10 for hotel guests and $12 for non-guests. Pets are permitted for a one-time fee of $25. Pet owners are given a welcome package and there is a pet-friendly outdoor area on site. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available upon request.

Soft Rock Cafe is less than a 10-minute walk down the street, while Marmot Basin is about a 25-minute drive south. Shopping can be found about 52 minutes northeastward at Parks West Mall, and Jasper's Via Rail Station is approximately a 14-minute walk northeast of the hotel. The Good
The majority of reviews consulted for this analysis were positive, with praise going to the hotel's rooms, value and staff.

Numerous guests enjoyed their accommodations. They described their rooms as clean, well equipped, spacious and tastefully decorated, with comfortable beds, gorgeous mountain views and good water pressure. A few lodgers had complaints about their rooms, however (see below).

Many reviewers were pleased with the hotel's value, and described the rates as reasonable, decent and awesome. One guest commented that the self-contained kitchen helped to save money, while another stated that the rates were cheaper than other hotels in Jasper.

The lodge's staff were the source of several compliments by lodgers, who characterized them as friendly, accommodating and helpful. It should be noted, however, that a few guests had issues with the service provided (see below).

The Bad
While the majority of reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, there were some common complaints about noise transfer, the rooms, the pool/hot tub and the staff.

Some guests complained of noise disruptions. They reported being able to hear guests in adjacent rooms and rooms overhead, as well as noise in rooms near the hotel's dumpster, cleaning room and laundry room. 

While the majority of reviewers were satisfied with their accommodations, a few guests had complaints about their rooms. They described old furniture and stained carpets felt that they were small.

A few guests were disappointed with the hotel's pool and hot tub. They found the pool's temperature to be too cold, and found the hot tub to be too small for the number of patrons wanting to use it. 

Although the majority of lodgers were generally satisfied with the hotel's customer service, a few reviewers were frustrated at the staff's lack of response to noisy, partying guests. These guests complained that the staff didn't do anything to deal with the noise issues.
