Overview

This hotel is located less than a 1-minute drive from the Yellowhead Trail (Highway 16) and about an hour's drive from Jasper National Park. With indoor pool, waterslide and family suites this hotel is ideal for families and vacationers looking to explore western Canada and Jasper National Park by car. Skiers enjoy accessing Marmot Basin in Jasper from this area which allows them to save on higher hotel prices in Jasper.

Both smoking and non-smoking accommodations are available. All rooms include free Wi-Fi, a 32" flat screen TV with pay-per-view movies, a mini-fridge, a microwave, free local calls, an iron and ironing board, a coffeemaker and air conditioning. Rooms are furnished with either one king bed, one king bed and a sofabed or two queen beds.

Executive suites at this hotel provide a separate living area and are furnished with one king bed and two sofabeds. The spa suite also includes a jetted tub and is furnished with one king bed and a sofabed.

Free parking is available on site and pets are not permitted.

A free hot breakfast is served from 6:30 am to 9:30 am on weekdays and from 6:30 am to 10:30 am on weekends.

On-site recreational facilities include an indoor pool, a waterslide, a hot tub and a fitness centre. Other on-site amenities include free newspapers, a business centre, coin-operated laundry machines, dry cleaning, an ATM, ice/vending machines and safe deposit boxes.

The Hinton Golf Club is 8 minutes away by car, while downtown Hinton (shops, restaurants and the Hinton and Area Travel Alberta Centre) is a 5-minute drive away. Access to the Beaver Boardwalk trail on Lake Maxwell is 9 minutes away by car and the Cache Percotte Forest Trail system is a 12-minute drive away. Jasper National Park is about an hour away by car. The Good

Positive reviews for this hotel greatly outnumbered negative reviews among the reviews used for this analysis.

Many guests were pleased with the comfort of their beds, the cleanliness of their rooms and thought they were well appointed and spacious.

Many guests enjoyed the food and selection at the free breakfast.

The staff were frequently complimented and guests described the front desk agents as friendly and professional.

A few reviewers found the location convenient for accessing the highway to Jasper, while a couple of guests found restaurants and shopping nearby.

A few guests mentioned the free breakfast, the indoor pool and hot tub, the fitness centre and free Wi-Fi as value-added benefits.

The Bad

While most reviewers left very positive reviews in the reviews read for this editorial, there were some trouble spots for a few guests.

Much of what was said along this line was not repeated by other reviewers and would have to be understood as not really a recurring issue at the hotel. That being said, the issue of noise transfer came up a couple of times with one guest having difficulty resting due to noise from neighbouring guests in the hallways, a beeping sound in the room and from the nearby gym treadmill. Another guest was also very displeased with inconsiderate fellow guests making noise in the hallways.

Although guests accessing the slopes at Marmot Basin in Jasper thought this hotel provided excellent value for the price, there were a couple of guests that felt that $180.00 with taxes in was a little steep for such a small town.
