Overview
Located on the University of Alberta campus and a 7-minute drive from the nearest Highway 2 on-ramp, the University of Alberta Guest Accommodation - Lister Centre is geared towards travellers who require a hotel with a free continental breakfast and free wired Internet near the university and highway access.
more Each of the hotel's smoke-free guest rooms offers free wired Internet, cable TV, a telephone, a coffeemaker, a desk, a fan, a sitting area, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. Rooms with a sofabed and one wheelchair-accessible room are also available upon request.
Please note the rooms are not air conditioned, although each room is equipped with a fan.
Also included in these rooms is a free medium coffee or tea and a breakfast pastry from Tim Hortons and access to guest laundry, the cafeteria and vending machines. Parking is available on site for an additional $7 per day.
From May through August, single- or double-occupancy dormitory rooms are also available, and include a private bathroom, free wired Internet, a desk and free access to the common areas, which include a fridge, a sink and cable TV. Pets are not permitted.
Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium can be found 2 minutes away on foot, while Subway Hub Mall is roughly a 4-minute drive away. The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with praise going to the hotel's location, staff, rates and rooms.
The hotel's location was praised by many guests, who described it as safe and close to University of Alberta Hospital, public transit, Southgate Mall, restaurants, shopping and Whyte Avenue. One patron remarked, "Very convenient location!!! walking distance to a variety of restaurants and grocery stores".
Numerous lodgers were pleased with the hotel's staff. They described them as friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable.
The hotel's accommodations were complimented by some travellers, who found them to be quiet, clean and well maintained. It should be noted, however, that some patrons had complaints about their lodgings (see below).
The Bad
