About the hostel: This clean and well-managed hostel is located in the Old Strathcona district, a 3-minute walk from Whyte Avenue restaurants and a 12-minute drive from Edmonton’s city centre.

The 2-storey hostel has 44 smoke-free and pet-free rooms with no elevator. Dorm-style rooms offer a shared bathroom and private rooms come with an ensuite bathroom.

All rooms include free Wi-Fi, bed linens, towels and a desk.

Some rooms include a sink, a personal reading light, and a large locker.

Rooms are furnished with 1 double bed, 2 bunk beds or 4 to 8 bunk beds.

Free outdoor parking is available on site.

A free coffee and tea bar is available in the common kitchen.

There is no restaurant on site, but guests will find O'Byrne's Irish Pub, Ampersand, Second Cup, The Keg and Continental Treat Fine Bistro Gluten Free, all within a 3- to 4-minute walk.

Hostel amenities include a common kitchen, a computer kiosk, a common lounge with TV, guitar, a games room, a pool table, tourist info, a 24-hour front desk, a private garden and courtyard, BBQ and picnic tables, a library, a guest laundry, bike storage, bike rental, storage lockers, luggage storage, vending machine an ATM and meeting room.

Telus World of Science is a 15-minute drive. Edmonton Valley Zoo and West Edmonton Mall are both within 17 minutes’ drive.

The Good
Guests typically enjoyed their stay.

Rooms were clean and quiet and beds were wide and sturdy. Bathrooms were well maintained and clean.

Location was very well liked. It was an easy walk to Whyte Avenue restaurants and bars and bus stops.

Staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Guests also liked: kitchen very clean with good facilities for making meals, lounge had modern furniture, luggage storage available after checking out, travel information available on site and meeting other travellers.

The Bad
There was a little negative feedback.

Recent room complaints were: room was warm with no air conditioning, and there were only a few electrical outlets available.

Noise transferred from: city sirens in the area and other travellers.

Other comments found were: no free breakfast.
