Overview
Canmore's Best Western Pocaterra Inn is along the Bow Valley Trail, just off the Trans-Canada Highway (a 4-minute drive away), which links Calgary to Banff National Park. The hotel has a few perks for families, including an indoor pool with a waterslide as well as a games room, while its top floor is dedicated to adults only.
more This non-smoking hotel's four levels house 83 rooms — standard rooms with two queen beds; king rooms, some of which have fireplaces, balconies or patios; and executive suites with a separate living room, 1.5 bathrooms, a four-poster king bed, a jetted tub and a balcony with views of the famous Three Sisters mountain. All rooms come with fridges, microwaves, coffeemakers and a work space. The adults-only fourth floor features king rooms and executive suites only. Pet-friendly rooms are available at an additional cost of $15 per day, though dogs are limited to an 80-pound weight maximum.
Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the hotel. Guests also get access to the hotel's indoor pool and water slide, alongside an exercise room, steam room, sauna and and a games room with ping pong and foosball tables. A free hot breakfast is served every morning. Parking is also free and comes with cold-weather plug-ins.
The town of Banff is approximately 20 minutes away by car, while the shops and restaurants of downtown Canmore are about five minutes by car. The Canmore Golf & Curling Club is only 400 metres from the hotel, and the Canmore Nordic Centre is an 11-minute drive from the hotel. The Good

more Those travelling with children spoke positively of the hotel's pool and water slide, which was reported to be fast by more than a handful of reviewers, some of whom spoke on behalf of their children. The games room was also much appreciated by families.

The mountain views on both sides of the hotel didn't go unnoticed by most guests, though it was noticed more by reviewers that had rooms on higher floors. Some guests who stayed on the ground floor (where the pet-friendly rooms are located) felt the view would have been better higher up. That said, dog owners were typically more focused on and appreciative of the areas available for their pets to stretch their legs and take care of business (one guest reported doggy bags, no not that kind, provided by the hotel near this area).
Despite the railway track, a track that runs through Canmore, being across the road from the hotel, many guests reported not being disturbed by train noises.
The Bad
While the breakfast was often described as being more substantial than the typical continental breakfast, with its hot offerings (eggs, sausages, etc.), many reviewers felt the quality of the breakfast was mediocre at best. Sometimes the food was reportedly not hot enough, other times supplies ran out and weren't replenished quickly enough, some said.
