Overview
About the hotel: This recently renovated (2016) hotel is well located just off Bow Valley Trail and the Trans-Canada Highway. It’s a 5-minute drive or 17-minute walk from downtown Canmore.

The 2-storey hotel has 60 smoke-free rooms with no elevator access.

All rooms include free Wi-Fi, free local calls, a flat screen HDTV with cable, a Keurig coffee and tea maker, a mini-fridge, a microwave, a desk with ergonomic chair, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, and climate control.

Some rooms include a sofabed, a kitchenette (stove top), a gas fireplace, a jetted tub and a shared balcony.

Rooms are furnished with 1 or 2 queen beds, 1 queen + 1 bunk bed, or 1 king bed.

Free outdoor parking for cars and oversize vehicles, with winter plugs, is available on site.

Pets are welcomed for $20 per pet, per night.

A free continental breakfast is available each day from 7 am to 11 am.

Restaurant on site: Chez Francois offers French cuisine and is open for breakfast and lunch daily and dinner Thursday to Sunday. (Hours may vary seasonally.)

Off-site restaurants: Guests will find several restaurants across the street (within a 2-minute walk) including Patrinos Steak House & Pub, Boston Pizza, Crazyweed Kitchen, Subway, and Dairy Queen. Sage Bistro is a 4-minute walk. Iron Goat Pub & Grill and Trough Dining Co. are 5 minutes by car. The Market Bistro and Rustica Steakhouse are a 7-minute drive.

Hotel amenities include a fitness centre, a business centre, a 24-hour front desk, snack/drink vending machines, ice machine, free newspapers and a meeting room.

What’s nearby? Canadian Rockies Rafting and Adventure Centre, where many outdoor activities can be booked year-round, is a 3-minute drive. Canmore Golf & Curling Club is 3 minutes’ drive. Canmore Nordic Centre is 10 minutes by car (cross-country skiing trails in the winter and mountain biking and hiking trails in the summer).

Area attractions: Banff National Park is a 23-minute drive. Banff Upper Hot Springs is a 29-minute drive. Mount Norquay is 28 minutes and Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort is 34 minutes by car. Lake Louise Ski Resort is a 57-minute drive.

Getting around:

The Good
Guests typically enjoyed their stay.

Rooms were clean and spacious with quality bed linens and cozy fireplaces.

Guests with cars found the location easy to find, convenient to downtown, restaurants and the highway.

Staff were pleasant and accommodating.

Some guests enjoyed the free breakfast calling it adequate and nutritious.

Guests often thought the hotel provided good value.

Guests also liked: convenient parking, impressive mountain views and rain shower heads.

The Bad
There was some negative feedback.

Recent room complaints were: no pillow options, no plastic liner for ice bucket, bathroom is dated, carpets in need of a deep clean and neighbours smoking on the balcony.

Noise was mentioned from: the nearby breakfast room, the train, neighbouring room, footsteps from room above, the hallway, the AC unit, a barking dog and the fireplace timer.

Some were disappointed in the free breakfast. Guests complained about a lack of juice and cereal variety, no cream for the coffee and soft fruit.

Other comments found were: no free bottled water available, a small breakfast room, no locking safe or guest laundry and ice machine did not work well/produce a lot of ice.
