Located about an 8-minute drive from Calgary's city centre and a 7-minute drive from the nearest Trans-Canada Highway on-ramp, the Hotel Elan is suitable for business or vacation travellers who prefer a boutique-style hotel with a free breakfast and meeting space near highway access and downtown Calgary.

Rooms with a kitchen, a separate bedroom, a living area with a sofabed, a dining table and a jetted tub are also available, and the hotel is not wheelchair accessible.

The Good
The majority of the reviews sourced for this analysis were positive, with much praise going to the hotel's rooms, staff, location and breakfast.
Numerous reviewers praised their accommodations at the hotel. They described their rooms as clean, quiet, modern, luxurious and well equipped, with comfortable beds and linens, beautiful showers and heated bathroom floors and toilet seats.
The hotel's staff were the source of many compliments by travellers, who characterized them as friendly, efficient and helpful. One patron remarked, "My partner and I were celebrating a very special occasion and man did Michelle and her front office team go above and beyond to create the ultimate guest experience for us. There were rose petals strewn about upon entry, chocolates and a handwritten note wishing us a great stay and offering her personal assistance should we need it".
Several guests were pleased with the hotel's location, finding it close to restaurants, shopping, bars and downtown Calgary. One reviewer noted, "Convenient location for anything central Calgary. One block off 17 ave, so lots to do and many places to eat". A couple of patrons had complaints about the location, however (see below).
The hotel's free breakfast was also enjoyed by several lodgers. They described it as delicious and amazing, with many hot and cold items and "outstanding coffee".
The Bad
While almost all of the reviews consulted for this analysis were very positive, there were a couple of complaints by guests that the hotel was a little far from downtown Calgary for their needs. However, the downtown area is within a 10-minute drive of the hotel.
