Overview

Located in Banff National Park and about a 4-minute drive from the nearest Trans-Canada Highway on-ramp, SameSun Backpacker Lodge is suitable for travellers who prefer a hostel-style hotel with a free breakfast, easy highway access and on-site dining.

This smoke-free hotel offers six- or eight-bed dorm rooms, each with free Wi-Fi, cable TV, an electric fireplace, a balcony, a shared bathroom (inside the room) and storage lockers. The hotel is not wheelchair accessible. Daily and weekly rates are available.

Hotel amenities include a guest kitchen, BBQ facilities, a shared lounge, ski storage, guest laundry, a business centre, vending machines, free parking, packed lunches, a free continental breakfast and on-site dining at The Beaver, which serves dinner and drinks daily. Pets are not permitted.

Banff Gondola is roughly a 7-minute drive away, while Cascade Plaza can be found 7 minutes away on foot. The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course is about a 5-minute drive from the hotel and Banff Airport (YBA) is 7 minutes away by car. (All distances and travel time estimates: Google Maps)

Many reviewers praised the hotel's location. They found it close to downtown Banff, a gas station, shopping, restaurants, bars, Lake Louise and public transit.

The hotel's rooms were enjoyed by several lodgers. They described their accommodations as clean, spacious, quiet and well equipped, with comfortable beds. It should be noted, however, that a few patrons criticized their lodgings (see below).

Several guests complimented the hotel's staff. They characterized them as friendly, efficient and helpful.
