The Good
Some guests found the hotel to provide an adequate stay close to downtown Banff.

Guests were pleased with the location because it was an easy walk to downtown and there were restaurants nearby and along the way.

Guests often found the rooms comfortable. Although the rooms were older, guests often described the rooms as well cleaned and spacious, with comfortable beds, good security locks and mini-fridges. Some mentioned that the rooms and bathrooms had been updated in some ways.

Guests usually referred to staff as friendly and willing to help, although this was not unanimous in the reviews.

Guests who obtained a room at a cheaper rate were typically more pleased with the hotel overall.

Adding value to the stay were: a nice hot tub on site, free access to the amenities of the 2 neighbouring sister hotels, free parking, free coffee in the lobby, 10% discount at neighbouring restaurants of sister hotels and senior’s discounts for the rooms.

The Bad
Some guests who were not fully satisfied or even disappointed told of areas that needed improvement at the hotel.

A few recent guests found AC units not working during their stay and when they opened windows, those who faced the street found it too noisy due to rowdy pedestrians and traffic.

Other sources of noise disturbance mentioned were: the sound of cars in the parking lot, an AC unit, guests in neighbouring rooms, train whistles and tour buses on the road.

Some guests said the hotel was in need of updates and others mentioned broken, missing or malfunctioning amenities in their rooms such as: a non-working safe, a non-working TV, a mini-fridge which froze all items, a broken chair, a patio door that did not lock, no phone in the room, a sink that did not drain and a discoloured jacuzzi with cracked tile around it.

Some guests complained of dirty and worn carpets in the main lobby area.

Tight parking spaces outdoors and also underground proved a challenge for some guests.

Some guests who paid high season rates in Banff, felt the hotel was very overpriced.
