The staff were amenable. Guests found them polite and friendly.
Guests liked the location. It was a pleasant walk to town and guests were given free passes to the Roam Bus for a quick and easy ride to town, the gondola and the hot springs.
Guests who spoke of the food on site were usually complimentary. One recent guest said they had a yummy burger for room service and another had breakfast and found the staff and food to be very good.
Some guests liked the indoor pool and large outdoor hot tub.
Guests who brought pets were very pleased with the attention given along with included amenities: a bed for the dog, a new toy, food and water bowls, and treats.
The Bad
There were a lot of complaints from guests who did not feel comfortable in this very old facility.
Many found the property too old, run down, neglected and way past the time of refurbishment. Recent complaints found were: hotel was tired, dark and depressing, everything was old and beat up, old and lumpy pillows, pillows had blood stains, sheets did not fit the bed, ripped sheets, rusted patio doors, no lock on balcony door, TV tempermental, broken floor tiles in bathroom, poor water pressure in shower, a slow drain, loose shower head, and badly scratched doors.
Many complained of dirty rooms. Recent complaints were pink mould in the bathroom, a dirty shower curtain, filthy and stained carpet, balcony had cigarette butts and old food containers, year-old dust in the rooms, very dirty windows, smell from the restaurant fan filtered into a guest's room, musty odours, cobwebs on door frames, spills on walls, and a thick layer of dirt behind night table.
Noise was a problem for some. Sources indicated were: the rattling of an outside restaurant fan which was very annoying, teenage partiers in the room next door, slamming doors, and neighbours talking.
Other complaints: vending machine chocolate was melted, the maids were knocking on the door at 9:30 am, the hotel is like a maze and disorienting, curtains did not close--there was a gap of 18 inches, beer tasted watered down at the restaurant, poor breakfast buffet, parking was a bit tight, no ability to control the heat and no air conditioning.
